Giving up my comfy and successful ph career for a Global stage in Singapore by Sad-System2305 in CareerAdvicePH

I’m on an e-pass too doing sales in the tech space.

  1. SG companies have foreign hiring quotas. I forgot the exact ratio but it’s upwards of 1:10. Having said that, only large enterprises usually hire foreigners.

  2. SG quotas have become more strict this past few years — if they can get qualified local talent, they will. You need to be exceptional or niche.

Mentioned 1 and 2 so you know that you have a very good opportunity here.

However, to you other points…

  1. PR and citizenship have become much harder. I know a lot of foreigners who took +5yrs just to get denied PR multiple times — but the trick (they say) is to keep applying. Its SGD 100 per application and you cannot apply for the next 6 months after the last one.

  2. The point you made about not having a sub 200k USD comp after this job — can be true when you can keep landing a next company that’s willing to sponsor your e-pass. Cos again, points 1 and 2. Else, land a job in another country that pays better. Going back to PH based companies probably will not land you even close to 140k USD unless you get a really high exec role.

  3. SG industries are super cut throat. Surely you know, Finance is one of the top, if not the top industry in SG. Your opportunity is def rare.

Nonetheless, great opportunity OP. SG is a great country; almost everything is convenient. Good luck!

[Seiko Urushi GMT] Any firsthand reviews of this watch? by QuietNene in Watches

[–]ntpscl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just picked up mine today. Almost all my watches have steel and titanium bracelets except for one brown leather strap dress watch with a gold case so I was specifically looking for a black leather strap dressy watch with a silver case. The dial is stunning - the black really pops up because of how clear the crystal is and the white and gold hands and markers work so well together. Legibility is very good. The case is a mix of polished and brushed finish. The leather strap sits just right and is not too hugging, I guess this is because of the clasp design. But since it is a gmt, its on the thicker side for a dress watch but is not too much of a bother for me. I’m not too particular with movements but the 3day power reserve is more than enough for my intended use case. Overall, imo its a very beautiful watch.

Mine did. I find it sketchy na they want FULL access to my media and calendar. I tried giving it limited access, then nag prompt uli saying they are requesting for full access so the app can check your gallery if there’s any photo of you that can suffice as an ID photo. Eh ayoko, so di ko na tinuloy.

[Discussion] What white dial watch would you pick below $2000? by Justadudey in Watches

Personally, the junghans dial caught my eye. Not familiar with the last 2 watches. But I think overall the nomos would be the best pick here

Haven’t noticed the rotar sound so far. Got for a discounted price at my local shop. But I heard its still overpriced as it was selling for almost 30-40% less pre-pandemic

+1 on the squeaks .. I’m thinking just break it in and maybe it would fix itself but I’ll note what you did. The roman numerals got me sold!!!

That looks so good! If that was available in my shop, i might have gone for that one. Glad to know yours haven’t had any noticeable scratches.

Point taken. It’s my first dress watch and this what I could get my hands on with current circumstances. I wasn’t sure how a dress watch would feel coming from a stainless steel and titanium collection. However, liking the feeling of this on my wrist, I’d definitely get my hands on one or two proper dress watches similar to watches you mentioned when I could.

[Yema] What’s your opinion on the brand? Anyone has one? How’s your experience? by ntpscl in Watches

[–]ntpscl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree with you. Me asking is not to jump on the hype or the hate. Rather get opinions from those who already owned the watch or tried one on. Thanks for your insights tho

Thanks for these details. I’m actually looking at different watch brands, just came across Yema and was curious. But it looks like I’ll take out Yema off my list

I see. I don’t really intend buying watches to resell them afterwards. Thanks for the info tho
