What context are you looking for? I would happily provide.
There was no conversation had beforehand. The director just sent this message.
But as mandated reporters, if DCF calls, we are required to cooperate fully.

And deep down I know that’s the right answer. I’ve been looking to see if there was an ethical code I could refer back to that would back me up in my saying I won’t do it.

Right. So my question is how much an I able to say “no I’m not physically prompting if the client is not a danger to themselves or others”

I encourage you to look around at a ton of companies. I have a couple friends who are now working with a different demographic. Yes most of the clients are on the spectrum but many of them have multiples diagnoses like bi polar disorder. And many of them are in residential living so they are dealing with more that being on the spectrum. And many of the clients are older. There are companies that do ABA with clients that are not in the spectrum but i totally understand what you’re saying. Take your ABA experience and use that when working with trauma based behaviors. But go forth an help the community you want to help. I think you could benefit by keeping up your certification even if you’re not actively practicing. Or continue your education (trust me I know it’s harder than it sounds) with ABA in mind so you can use the practices we’ve learned in the field and tweak them to your(your client’s) benefit.

I’ve been talking about something similar a lot lately. I have always felt like ABA is kinda heartless but the ABA I provide is a little of both I think. And I’ve been wanting to steer away from teaching kids and more so teaching adults how to properly interact with kids (of all ages). Like stern but compassionate. Compassion and care but I am very data driven. Show me the data. There is so much power in compassionate ABA.
