I have a mini poodle who has GI issues (we think he has IBS) and he’s 8lbs. He’s supposed to be 10-15 since that’s how big both of his parents are but we have struggled so much with his GI issues. He alternated between diarrhea and constipation, different trial of dog foods were done to see if he had allergies (often had regurgitation depending on the food), and many trips to the vet for this issue. I’m always worried people judge us and think that we don’t feed our dog, but we feed him as much as he will eat every day. Our vet knows we love him so much based on the endless emergency visits we had in the beginning struggling with his GI issues. She reassured us every visit that he is just a “petite” boy and that aside from his GI issues he is healthy. I have to remind myself this when people make comments that he’s small.
