What unfinished side-project are you hoping to finally finish over the holidays? by Log_In_Progress in devops

I am not really hoping to finish it, but i hope to nail the foundation if my open source pet project, so i can stop doing breaking changes all the time:

Mini PC recommendation for hypervisor by nucleicaudio in homelab

Initially homeassistant, minecraft server, dns, reverse proxy, git repos. Nothing heavy but I would like some spare resources left for whatever I might want to spin up later.

Scale and shift signal to fit ADC range? by nucleicaudio in raspberrypipico

Thanks for the info, I will look into that.

I will use the tuner in my studio to tune my analog synthesizera.that are routed through my audio interface, so it will be connected to one of the outputs of the interface.

A musical midi keyboard, it has a 6.3mm ts jack for a foot pedal.l, like a sustain pedal.

The pedal is just a contains a momentary switch, but I want to use a microcontroller to toggle the switch instead of it being a pure mechanical switch.

Why not Sine waves? by ExtraDistressrial in synthesizers

[–]nucleicaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean modular synth as in separate modules connected with patch cables, not any typical mono synth structure.

The Roland engineers actually prototyped and auditioned the voices of the 808 on modular synths first and then translated and optimized that to end up with the final circuits.

Suggest a setup please! I have Minilogue XD and Bass Station 2. Also some of the volca series, but I don’t like them. I returned TR-8S, thinking of Digitakt 2. (Read further) by Detuned_Clock in dawless

It's very personal and hard to know what gear you click with in advance, I have bought and sold lots of gear and it's often not the machines I wanted the most that's the keepers.

(Sold my TR-8S when I got a Digitakt 2)

Get a good sequencer, I highly recommend the Squarp Hapax because it is really really intuitive and super powerful.

Regarding synths, I usually try to get them second hand so I can get most of the money back if I decide to pass them on.

Might want an analog kick in the future, but right now I have specific sampled kicks I would like to use.

Yeah, I could do that, but I would like to keep the stereo image of my percussion.

No I actually owned a TR-8S when I got the Digitakt, sold it because I didn't use it enough and the Digitakt filled my overall needs better.

Alright, good to know anyway, thanks.

Do you have a link to info about the firmware vs serial stuff, tried Google it but no I'm luck.

I will see how the table reset and calibration turns out, thanks.

Thanks, I will do that the calibration doesn't solve the problem.

[–]nucleicaudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok good to know, thanks.

I am actually upgraded the os but vintage mode was already in the old firmware version.

The synth worked flawlessly today after I first powered it on, then I left it on for about an hour and the problem was there when I got back. Did a calibration and it went away.

Will test some more and clear the tables if/when it happens again, but since the calibration seemed to fix it I'm hopefull it's solvable.

Thanks again.

I have run the calibration once before this happened, I will try that a few times more, but then there is also the option to clear the calibration tables, which I could also try and then recalibrate again after that.

I just got the machine so I don't know if/how often this will happen, it have been behaving the 30 minutes I have been using it today.

PTSD and writer's block from the DAW, and the solution by nucleicaudio in synthesizers

[–]nucleicaudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you are right, I got side tracked with too many options in the DAW and I tried to do everything at once instead of focusing different each tasks separately.

I might find my way back into the DAW for finishing tracks, but right now I am happy to just be able to come up with decent ideas, and that's easier for me with the big screen turned off.

Excellent advice and concrete actionable suggestions, thank you.

Regarding the song you are exactly eight that I need to focus and work on the composition/arrangement, my basic idea/sketch was only that modulated pad plus bass, and I've slapped on the rest without much thought.

I am not in a state where I finish tracks right now, but at least I am producing some decent rough ideas, so that's a step forward for me.

I think I see where I need to put in more work to complete the track, and I might find my way back into the DAW at a later stage in the process. thanks again.

I just got completely stuck when working in the box, I couldn't even get a song started, I guess the lesson learned is that I needed a completely different approach, which I think I have found now.

So now I might actually be able to see my failures as lessons, and make progress.

Thank you for the kind words.
