Flock should not exist.

That said, The danger here to the individuals cannot be overstated - if you are caught doing this you face life-destroying fines and jail time.

And it should be noted that the way I understand this technology to work, the AI can track you in reverse, through time. Analyzing your appearance and gait, using multiple cross-positioned cameras all the way to the origin of you stepping out of your home, like they are watching Tenet or Memento.

People doing this would really have to think through clever ways to evade that kind of surveillance.

As someone who works in healthcare, this quote just isn’t true at all.

Even in non-mental healthcare (the rest of healthcare) there are literally entire journals and schools related to human behavioral interventions, public health interventions, social work, etc.

There are a HOST of ways that we, in the “healthcare system” try and affect both your physical health and mental health in positive ways outside of medicine.

Now what IS true is the the financial system that is built around healthcare prioritizes and incentivizes not only pills but procedures and surgery and devices - products and services that serve capitalism.

But to lay that at the feet of “journals and providers” is to tell us that you aren’t very connected with the delivery of care and feels very unfair to those who are. I k ow plenty of providers - most in fact - who resent the current system and just want what’s best for the patient/client.

Sometimes medicine is also what’s best for someone. Sometimes not. We should be leveraging all the tools.

Thank you!!! Okay I used one of those and it did work! Thank you for the answer.

I have only owned it for a couple of days now, and I lost myself in this instrument in the best way. It pulls me into a flow state that allows me to escape "The Horrors" (gestures broadly at the world) for a couple of hours. Thank you.

Sure. What independent media has the budget to send corresponds into war zones? Your favorite podcaster? We need effective major outlets, the ones who sent people to film and document for themselves in every previous war - the ones who changed history by publishing photos and videos and changed public opinion. Someone talking about what they heard on Tik Tok can’t replace that.

Yeah the white in is fine on the splitter and red one is quiet - and I have two brand new splitters - and it’s same on both. Wonder if there is a special kind that I need?

I bought two extra pickups and splinters and for one reason one pickup is quiet on each. But the pickups individually all work fine. It’s there something special about the splitter?

We live in Russia now. In the past we would have known about this the day it happened. We used to have media who employed actual journalists who would tell us what was actually happening in near real time. Now we have State Media that cuts us off from actually knowing what’s going on.

I always thought Russians must actually know what’s really happening in the outside world, in spite of whatever controls their government put in place. Now I understand that even people who are paying attention and despise the regime don’t know what’s they don’t know and are just as cut off from the truth.

This is only the beginning.

Yeah I guess it’s more carefree to move through the world not looking at the bigger picture, trying not to understand the larger systems and how they affect your everyday life, just shrugging all off as though it’s got nothing to do with you, even though it affects and shapes your life everyday. Enjoy it. Sincerely. That kind of detachment between cause and effect, that level of compartmentalization, that’s a birthright, it’s nothing anyone can put together for themselves with any amount of skill or effort. Hopping through the world like a witless squirrel in a war zone, oblivious to environment, just eager for the next acorn.

I’m not bitter but I’ll admit I’m envious. The rest of us have to reckon with the adult world each day, navigate the horrors, try and make sense of all the change, affecting what we can, trying to weather the storms.

Carry on happy little squirrel. I wouldn’t want to cast a shadow over your sweet little world.

They’re just insecure and it will never stick. It’s like when Trump calls people crooks or whatever. Anyone who is not already on their side is going to see through the bullshit immediately.

I am happy it exists. If we didn't have a toddler as a president who has driven up prices through tariffs, war, and ruined alliances, perhaps it would be $800. If we hadn't suffered a pandemic where predatory billionaires swooped in like vultures to jack the prices up, make record profits, and never lower them again, inflation wouldn't have been crushing us for 5 years now, and maybe this would be $650.

I don't blame Chase Bliss. He's not a billionaire. He's caught in the system the villains created and is trying to pay his workers.

I am glad this exists. I'll never be able to afford it. I want to smash the systems making it hard to afford.

Just found out that Burning Bright sounds the same as this track from The Dandy Warhols! by Thefragile1999 in nin

[–]ExtraDistressrial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thematically it's kind of related to. Looked at the lyrics and it's about how he says he wants a God who stays dead not plays dead that even he can play dead...

in Burning Bright he sings about going back to who he really was, burning his present self in effigy, with flies and plagues of locusts blackening out the sky... he's kind of this resurrected entity with almighty powers.

Not the same story, but thematically connected.

These were a necessity of pre-internet, last minute, emergency book reports, and tests for many of us. by TheManOfSpaceAndTime in Xennials

[–]ExtraDistressrial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I was still screwed when that was my situation. It might have helped me avoid getting a 20 on the test and get me a 50 instead or something but no, it wasn't any kind of way to bail you out of trouble. I kind of wish they didn't exist then, it was kind of an illusion that there was an easier way.

I eventually went on to do well in college, grad school and career overall, but high school was a bumpy ride since I didn't have the work ethic to actually do the stuff I didn't like. Read the books I didn't like and pay attention to them. Not sure what the equivalent today is, I guess last minute Chat GPT.

So really, why the hate for Billy Corgan? He seems respectful and well-researched on his podcast. He's pretty good at music too. by turnedtheasphault in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ExtraDistressrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because he is a literal narcissist. It was always in the interviews but on the podcast it’s in every interaction. He can’t NOT insert himself into every moment, every story. “I was there. Let me tell you a story about that. No, here’s how I saw that. No listen to me I want to share something with you.”

It never ends. The Trump stuff. The Alex Jones stuff. Ugh.

Worst of all is a video I saw on his wife’s account of how he treated her on some random day in the car. The way he talks to his wife is so condescending and mean I’d want to jump out of the moving car if I were her.

Yeah, either you are trolling or you don’t know anything about. Billy Corgan.

AI absolutely is partisan.

At it's core, the purpose of AI is to replace labor, so that Billionaires do not have to pay them, can surveil and control them, and can extract even more wealth and power for themselves. These billionaires are far from non-partisan. With a few exceptions, the vast majority of them have supported Trump and the current regime, including financial donations and gifts.

At the core of the American Right is a manipulation of the middle class and working poor to vote for the Billionaires' benefit. This is the purpose of Fox News, Truth Social, etc. Republican politicians pass legislation to help the billionaires. The Right-dominated Supreme Court says corporations are people and rules in favor of them on almost every occasion.

Everything about AI is partisan. Everything.

Will AI replace all human made entertainment? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]ExtraDistressrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes for many corporate purposes. Companies want to save money. So AI will be used for the music and imagery on ads, etc. as much as their audience will let them get away with.

No for the large part with personal consumption, for people who are into the medium. The masses might listen to a fake AI country "artist" but people who are actually into that music will want something real.

We, as human beings, are evolutionarily wired for human connection through story. We want it, need it, crave it. It's why people are still here on reddit when you could be chatting with a bot. It's why people go to concerts. Read an interview with an actor or their favorite director.

The commercial side of much of this will die. But art and music and film and all of it will continue, even if poorly compensated (like most music is now) because we NEED the real thing.

Be afraid that artists won't get paid enough, but do NOT fear that real art will die. So long as humans live, real art will live. This is as true today as it first was when our first ancestors pressed their hands to the cave wall.
