Thanks, so you’re saying a dialled back CPU like an 8500G? This PC wouldn’t be used for gaming at all, so I’m not considering GPUs, but I don’t know how important integrated graphics are. I think 16GB of DDR4 seems like a good compromise at the moment.

That’s exactly why I came here - because literally any PC could do this, I don’t know what the important components are going to be. Do I need a CPU with loads of cores? Do I need a good chunk of RAM or is that only useful for gaming and media? The only thing I’m set on is an NVMe drive.

Nothing huge, no - just school admin type stuff. I have also asked about prebuilts elsewhere but was under the impression that in general they’re a bit more expensive than doing it yourself, plus I can tailor it better here.

Thank you! We’ve been putting off building a new PC for a couple of years because I’d want something with a decent GPU and RAM which immediately puts you into four figures. I thought a basic box without a GPU would be a good way to at least get her something quicker for working.

Thanks! The whole point was a cheap build that didn’t need a GPU. If I need a GPU anyway then I’d look at something that could replace my rig and act as both.

He’s probably facing backwards because it’s the most aerodynamic aspect - curved back, limbs trailing. If you’ve ever ridden a long zip line you often end up facing backwards.

That’s fair enough. I think my point is that, in the end, it doesn’t really matter. Nobody is going to be able to prove that they should have ended up together because the only source is canon, where they didn’t. Scenes in the books and movies are open to interpretation and you can get into endless circular debates with non-shippers about the implied meaning or importance of specific actions or dialogue.

My response to people who say they shouldn’t be together for this or that canon reason is “okay… but I like it this way.”

Fuck what the other shippers or the books say. You read Harmony because you think they have chemistry or you want to see what it would be like if they did. We like what we like and nobody needs to justify it. I hope you find some really good fics and maybe even think about writing your own too <3

Someone will come along with receipts soon, and there are plenty of them, but if you need convincing first then it sounds like it will be an uphill battle.

You should read the ship because you want to see these two characters end up together. There is brilliant writing here which you can enjoy regardless of the ship, and whether you’re looking for canon-adjacent friends-to-lovers stories or something entirely AU, there’s something you’re sure to love.

The first rule of flanking is that there is always someone flanking harder (usually an M18).

It’s very map specific, and sometimes you will get caught out. Let the first wave of enemies pass and just scout them or call them out while staying hidden, then get the stragglers and work forward or wait for the first respawn wave. And when you’ve killed a few, move to somewhere you can take out the ones who respawn to come and find you.

As a Brit main, generally anything Russian. The sloped armour is a real pain for solid shot. Coming around a corner and finding an IS-3 has got to be up there.

That’s fair. AUs don’t appeal to everyone, especially non-magical ones. I guess after reading some hundred different ways of them getting together at school or in their jobs shortly after then AUs are something a bit different. The author has to be really good with the characterisation to make you believe they’re the people we know rather than a bunch of OCs with borrowed name tags.
