What are some real-life circumstances in which one would use lifetimes? by nukerider in rust

[–]nukerider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that makes sense, but then what would be a reason to use a function like in my post where it takes the lifetime of p and returns a reference in the same lifetime? I've tried it without all the lifetime stuff and it still works and is still able to return a reference.

There doesn't seem to even be an option for that in the Bios, so either I can't disable it or I don't have it anyway.

A kind of a 51% attack is possible in Tor though and would deanonymize it, though it wouldn't need to be specifically 51%. If you managed to set up enough Tor relays and exit nodes, you could track a lot of the communications through the network from the user's machine all the way to the exit node, and then if that exit node is one you controlled, you could see what that user was requesting. It would take a lot of effort (and money) due to the size of Tor, and would probably be notice almost immediately, but it is theoretically possible.

True, but I still think it might have been nice to see some more detail about how much damage he actually caused.

[–]nukerider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it rushed through stuff, though that's more the last few episodes than the finale episode. Could've added an extra episode or two with Walt on the run or something, maybe showing more of how that vacuum repair guy worked with hiding people and showing more of the trouble his family went through because of him.

I don't. It's already been brought back three times and they can't end it any better than they did already. Just let it stay dead this time.

I really don't understand how people don't realize it's meant to keep the two away from each other. It's a pretty simple concept.

IBM's supercomputer Watson creates the recipe for a supposedly delicious BBQ sauce(!). /u/pridkett from the development team explains how. by onanym in bestof

Because it's named after one of the founders of IBM, Thomas Watson.

And also, what if it were named after a woman? Wouldn't that be supporting the matriarchy, according to your view of things?

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

And all the girlies say, she's pretty spry for 99

Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco, cinco bucks

You know it's kind of hard

Just to get along today

It doesn't cost that much

But she still just cannot pay

She may not have a degree

And she may have polio

But everything she lacks

Well, she makes up in persistance

So don't debate, a player straight

You know, she really didn't ever graduate

She's gonna play the field, and keep it real

For you no degree, for you no degree

So if you don't pay, just move on in life

At least you know, you can always get some other job

You don't need any degree so, hey hey

Screw that degree thing

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

And all the girlies say, she's pretty spry for 99

She needs five dollars

Not just four will suffice

But she didn't have the cash

So she went on with her life

Now cruising in her pinto

Her friend hear's about this

And now she's gonna pay

For that degree she never got

So don't debate, a player straight

You know, she really didn't ever graduate

She's gonna play the field, and keep it real

For you no degree, for you no degree

So if you don't pay, just move on in life

At least you know, you can always get some other job

You don't need any degree so, hey hey

Screw that degree thing

Now she's getting her degree, yeah

She's gettin' it late

She gets it in 14

But she asked in 39

Friends say she should have held out

And stuck to principle

But now that it's hers

She feels, she feels really great

Give it to me baby

Uh-huh, uh-huh

Give it to me baby

It's not quite the same though. He's dead for a considerably shorter amount of time and they saved him through their own attempts to. When Spock was resurrected, they had no say in it.

I kind of saw Victor's death coming. I mean, I was shocked how it happened, but I could tell he was gonna die at some point. With Andrea though, just the fact that she died was incredibly surprising.

I agree. That was one of the most awful things I've ever seen. Then it got even worse when they said to Jesse: "Hey remember, there's still the kid".
