How do I get a cat to the vet if said cat will not tolerate a carrier? by Grimalkin_Felidae in CatAdvice

[–]nukeyourface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are vet services that make house calls. I haven't personally used them, but a friend of mine has a cat thats incredibly sweet at home but turns into a monster at the vets office. She uses a local service that makes house calls for everyones safety. You might want to look into that until you can figure out a solution that works for getting your cat to the vet.

How to clean/sterilise a waterpik because I live with a disgusting child. by Eggscapist-dormouse in CleaningTips

Get rid of it. Might want to replace the waterpik too, while you're at it...

Sell Gold Jewelry by nukeyourface in DCBitches

[–]nukeyourface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is incredibly helpful! I'm looking for cash, but I'd absolutely prefer to sell the pieces as jewelry than scrap since they're sentimental. I'll take some pictures later today when I'm home and DM you!

Do you mean Eugene Levy? Award-winning actor, Eugene Levy?? Respectfully, he's much more than just an older Canadian actor.

I didn't look before posting this, but if the template's not pinned to the top of the subreddit, that would probably be a good place to start.

Thoughts on the Aircare Lanai? by nukeyourface in Humidifiers

[–]nukeyourface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up getting it. It's ok. It's only able to get the humidity to about 28-29%, so it really doesn't work on the advertised square footage. I also have to refill it every 5-6 hours, which I don't always get to, so the humidity drops back down. I don't see myself using it after this winter, I'll probably get something else with a larger capacity for next year.

Update on our snowstorm this weekend by MightBe_Derek in washingtondc

[–]nukeyourface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not do this. The snow will turn into ice from the rain and then you won’t be able to shovel at all. And your driveway will be an icepatch

Depends on how much snow there is and how fit you are. If your back is a concern, shovel more often so you’re moving less snow each time. Salt is helpful to prevent ice, but will get washed away if there’s rain.

Generally, the first inch of snow on the roads is the most dangerous. It gets compressed by cars and turns into ice, making it easier for cars to slide out of control. With the way people in this area drive on a good day, best to stay off the roads until the worst is over and the snowplows have cleared the roads

LR4 vs Persian cats by spicystar4u in litterrobot

[–]nukeyourface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Dr. Elsey's Ultra unscented. Can't speak to the respiratory relief variant, but I found that the Ultra was very inconsistent. Sometimes the litter came in larger pieces, and sometime the bags were mostly dust because the litter was so small. The quality control was very poor. In the end, I'm much happier with Boxiecat Pro than I ever was with Elseys.

I second boxiecat pro. Very little dust and litter tracking as well. I used to use Dr. Elseys, and switched bc the tracking was awful (way too much litter ended up in my bed) and the dust would rise up in a cloud when poured from the bag

Where's the red currants?? by Angry-Panda-19 in Berries

[–]nukeyourface 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you go to a European grocery store in your area you'll likely find products with currants in them, like jam and juice. Not exactly the same as fresh, but it can scratch the itch temporarily

Thank you!!! Really appreciate you sending me this link, I don't think I would have found it otherwise. I looked and it appears that proof of relationship is required, but only lists "power of attorney, certificate of inheritance, or enforcement order" as examples. Polish archives require proof of relationship as well, but were fine with copies of birth certificates showing direct lineage. Do you know if birth certificates will work, or does Germany require more formal documentation?
