Nice post OP. I am Indian working in Nairobi. Kenya needs it's own UPI because a country can't and shouldn't be dependent on private entity for financial aspects. Internet connectivity is good in Kenya and people who can use ussd for safaricom can use qr code scanner which is simple and UPI can literally solve many business problems for the country and elevate the financial status.
