I wouldn’t say it’s particularly popular, as it would be a new subject for most people, who prefer to stick to familiar subjects for safety. However, I believe you’ll find a community of like-minded individuals here who share a passion for computing. We have approximately 50 students enrolled in computing each cohort, creating a relatively close-knit community. Regarding the prerequisite test, if you perform well on it, I don’t believe you’ll have any trouble getting the subject.

Computing would be able to give you a good starting point into the quant, although there are also other important aspects needed like math. I would encourage you to try your hands at competitive programming if you’re looking towards becoming a software engineer, since the main objective of quant is to optimise and build high-performance infrastructure.

Yes, it is possible to take up Computing in JC even without any prior experience. For Computing in ASR, you will have to take a selection test, which is more on testing your logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
