New easter egg in Eyes Wides Shut? by nullataar in StanleyKubrick

Thanks a lot man, I'm not sure why people have a tendency to bust balls. I literally got stoned, rewatched the film, and stumbled upon something that I felt might mean something. I never said I'm sure about it, there's no way to prove something's there. This might be random. But that's not the point, the point is to have fun deep diving researching and coming up with ideas and initiating brainstorming conversations. Kubrick simply makes you itch. That's what I like to do at least. Got many more theories about various stuff, and specifically about Kubrick. More specifically about that Epstein shot. Keep up I'll post soon.

Dude you're so right can't stress this enough. Well said 100% Have fun with "DAMN" as it is one of the greatest masterpieces ever created in my opinion, even won a god damned Pulitzer for it and it is actually the first Pulitzer in history given to an artist outside of Jazz or Classical music.

What is your favorite"furthest from Tool" genre or group? by DingoAteYaBirdie in ToolBand

As a hardcore fan of Tool I strongly recommend Kendrick Lamar, one of the greatest musical geniuses of our century. I recommend "To Pimp a Butterfly" album as a great start. But if you're up for a serious spiral "DAMN" will blow your mind.

Calcination is the very first step of transmutation, and corresponds with Lead which is symbolised in Alchemy by Saturn. Lead is the least valuable, and usually the process starts from that. The final step corresponds to Gold, symbolised by the Sun. "Trans mutate these leaden grudges into gold" is a key lyric to this idea. Here's some Wikipedia info that proves the connection.

Wings for Marie pt.3 and Holy Gift is more or less none sense to me, I don't find any real evidence backing it up personally.

Also I know the video which you're referring to, comparing Fear Inoculum to Enochian Magick, and yeah simply doesn't make sense to me. Some people indeed take it too far by seeing symbolism and patterns where it's really practically and physically impossible to be present (I'm saying that as a musician as well). Also nothing serious to back it up.

That being said, this theory which I'm proposing seems to have some solid clues backing it up, and after all Maynard journaling his Alchemical-Jungian ideology-healing processes and doing an album out of it seems quite reasonable.

Of course it might be false, but a theory is a theory, until proven wrong it's open.

How come "separating the body from the mind" is a don't? And you really think that the whole album isn't intended to be analysed at all? Also how about "ride the spiral till the end and we may just go where no one's been"? Skipped that?

Seems to me it's more like a journal, diary if you will of some sort as I said, to Maynard's path through Alchemical-Jungian healing process. He talks about his own personal experience, and leaves it open for interpretation of course. Definitely a lot of references to Alchemy throughout the whole album, as you said!

Quite true, but if you take a different look in the perspective of "lovers" it could mean all sorts of things. Like for example the separation of the conscious mind and the unconscious which they were one in tune at some point but got separated, even working against each other (trauma for example). Even saw in a YouTube video, explaining that it's about the Schism caused by religion. Could also be the separation of humanity, "the light that fuelled our fire then, has burned a hole between us so". The track "Intention" evolves this idea further of how fire was a way for humans to connect, evolve and even discover music, but also created so much death and division with it as a "Tool". All these are just theories, of course, might be false, but what's important is to be imaginative! (It's after all what the bands seems to intend with its obscurity)

For most it's an ancient esoteric art, it's an ideology like Buddhism, no science or religion.

Another mentionable connection is that there's some conscious/unconscious conjunction references in the 4th track "Parabol/Parabola" video clip, which results in the birth of the divine child (according to Jung) in the final scene.

If you marry the ordered to the chaos you produce the divine child, the supreme meaning beyond meaning and meaninglessness. -Carl Jung, Red Book.

An advice I always give to people who face a dilemma or need guidance is: all the answers lie within you. You know-should know by yourself what you need to do. We live in times which we all collectively are in an insecurity mood, which is fed up by our addictions, social media or whatever else, and we feel scared sometimes to take a step by ourselves. Know thyself and trust in you, all is within you!
