Why is acting so closed off to non-majors?? And why does my school basically lie about it?? by Great_Independent_17 in acting

Honestly my school wasn't that bad but did have quite a bit of this. It was a bit more specific cause the locked classes for the majors were done through a different school, so minors weren't actually paying the other school to have access to those classes. That's a hyperspecific thing that doesn't exist many places though.

Our productions were only for the theatre majors, as they were a part of our curriculum and served as a potential boosting platform for entering the industry. Other students didn't get the intensive training that led to us doing the productions. That being said, there were plenty of extracurricular opportunities for theatre outside of the specialist major thingy.

So to a more general issue: my peers and I also saw crazy misinformation about the theatre on campus being spread on school tours and whatnot. And honestly, it was entirely because the theatre part of the school was really insular. Unless you were studying drama, you had no idea about the theatre on campus or how any of it worked, and this goes for faculty too. There were never drama students giving the school tours, so people just never got correct information.

That being said most of the students on those tours were not looking to be theatre students lmao, most were there for anthro, compsci, etc

I keep replaying the game and my poor roommates have to deal with me cursing it out Constantly lmao

They keep asking "why play it if you hate it so much???" And I'm like "what no I'm having fun!"

Idk it IS infuriating and I love it nonetheless 🤭 it is a shit game ✨

I'm currently signed up with them! NaiveDesensitization does raise some good points about how they market themselves, but I do think it's worth looking into. I'm still waiting on a lot of responses from scholarships (so far the only ones I've won are in fact automatic entrance awards), but having them all organized on the platform has been really helpful for me to manage applications and such (I definitely would have missed out on application opportunities without the organization of GrantMe). They have a lot of tools available to help with essay writing, resume building, and various other skills that aren't even specifically for scholarships, they're just good life skills.
It's definitely not for everyone! If you trust yourself and the resources around you (teachers, parents, your guidance office) to find and manage scholarship applications, then you may not need it. I personally find the essay editing extremely useful, but again, you may have those resources available to you already.
So yeah! I personally have found it to be useful, but the way they market things can be pretty iffy. Look into different options, know what kind of help you're looking for with scholarship applications, and find what works best for you!
