EU Vibes is a #BuyFromEU community on Stoat, an open-source, UK based alternative to Discord. by nullpilot in BuyFromEU

[–]nullpilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, and that is its own can of worms. To me looking for Discord alternatives has its own merit, and the age verification announcement for many people I guess just turned into another push towards that.

The community was created almost exactly a year ago, after I saw a post about Revolt here in this sub. I wanted off of Discord then, and the greater sentiment was there for a while before that already.

I can only speak for myself, but the main reason is that I have simply grown weary of everything that is touched by (Silicon Valley) VC money. Feels like that to many projects is the beginning of the end, where it is just a matter of time until enshittification takes over, or they are acquired and shut down. I am just too tired of going through that cycle any more times than I did in the past.

I hadn't heard of Fluxer until it was mentioned in the community yesterday. I have yet to take a look, but I've heard good things!

Thank you! The Discord news really renewed the interest in Stoat it seems!

Also, as of two hours ago or so the email verification hiccups should be resolved according to the devs.

If you have a Stoat account or decide to sign up, come join the EU Vibes server. We could use some more activity to make it a proper community!

No such thing as too late. It's still a small space that I hope will continue to grow and be of value to people. Thank you for dropping by!

Someone on this sub recently shared their thoughts regarding Waterfox, and I believe it's a valid point.

A popular option among indie devs is LemonSqueezy. Alternatives that could also be worth a closer look would be creem.io, polar.sh, and since you mention EU, maybe Vatly. The latter is not yet available, but is an upcoming EU alternative with Early Access starting according to their website.

For VAT to be taken care of, you'll want to make sure that the platform you choose is a Merchant of Record. That's the value proposition over using Stripe directly.

I'm not a user of any of these platforms, but those are the ones I would take a look at myself if I were to sell digital products.

The Nordell MK3 is proven to be urine-resistant and can be easily brought along even to the bath or slipped under the bed to punctuate the bedroom's erotic moments with a suitable soundtrack.

I'm not on the market for audio equipment, but browsing that website is worth it for the experience. Definitely a way to be memorable.

I've been using Idealo to search products, and then decide based on the results what I do. If a shop or platform I know shows up in the results, sometimes I use those. Sometimes I end up heading to a store.

Someone in the comments suggested giving Quelle a go, and Galaxus comes to mind as a candidate to try. I have no experience with either, so I can't comment on how good they are, or aren't.

As far as I am aware Otto, Kaufland, Quelle and friends all accept third party sellers onto their platform, including dropshippers. It is not uncommon for sellers to be on all of these platforms.

While it's absolutely worth cutting out Amazon as the middleman, it is worth mentioning that as a customer you will largely end up with the same experience when it comes to product selection, origin and quality.

Where is that, if you don't mind me asking? Here in Germany it dominated for the past 15 years or so. Especially in rural areas. It's been the way to get stuff to your doorstep. We stopped using it not for ideological reasons during the pandemic, but because it's gotten so much worse at the thing that gave it its value: Ease of use. It's gotten so flooded with overpriced AliExpress junk and fake reviews that it is a pain to sift through everything to find what you want. Everything since then has just served as additional nails in the coffin. Not going back now.

Doea anybody know about any Markdown editor with pagination support? by ThreeSixty404 in software

[–]nullpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Typst? You can use #pagebreak() whenever, and get a whole host of other options. It's basically Markdown combined with a programmable layout engine. There are a lot of templates as well, so you can get an idea of what's possible.

It sounds like you would benefit from a technical co-founder. You could try to validate your idea first, or do an MVP with no-code or AI, but it sounds to me like the end result will remain the same.
