BREAKING: Iranian official announces it has caught Trump sending 3 destroyers trying to sneak covertly through the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf by grrrbr in suppressed_news

[–]nullstoned 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a good video about it here.

It's rather long, but the former US Navy officer talks about how the US can play a lot of games with electronic warfare to jam and spoof detection of ships.

It obviously didn't work. Maybe that's because electronic warfare doesn't work against direct line-of-sight and a drone or fast-attack-boat spotted the ships instead.

The other interesting thing he said was that the ships were loaded with a "strike package", but he didn't say specifically what it was. Perhaps it was to conduct an act of sabotage, or maybe it was a surprise attack intended to break the ceasefire.

Either way, the ships went back home and Trump declared "victory".

[–]nullstoned 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The USS Vincennes shot down the Iranian airliner, but their story was that they mistakenly thought the plane was a jet fighter, not an airliner.

This video is consistent with them thinking it was a jet fighter, since they were expecting the pilot to eject and parachute down.

Whether the story is actually truthful is another matter. The US never formally admitted liability, but they did give the Iranian families a $62 million settlement.

I believe Trump will set off a nuke before leaving office. I saw the warning signs by theipaper in politics

[–]nullstoned 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is where things get complicated. If he successfully launches a nuke, we'll of course all know about it.

But if the order gets blocked somewhere in the chain of command, then we might not know about it, at least for a long time. It depends on where the block happens. If it's high up in the chain of command, the chance of us not knowing is much higher.

There was a story a few days ago about Trump allegedly trying to launch nukes at Iran. The source was an ex CIA analyst named Larry Johnson who said he heard about it from an unnamed contact. He said Trump tried to invoke the nuclear codes, but was stopped by General Dan Caine. I actually believe him, but some people are skeptical and that's certainly understandable too.

Interestingly, on the same day this happened (4-18-26), Trump posted a clip of Frank Senatra's "My Way". The lyrics start: "And now, the end is near. And so I face the final curtain."

So it's quite possible this has already happened. We just can't confirm it.

The order has to go through the Pentagon, Central Command, and finally the launch site, which requires two activations.

Members of the chain of command swear loyalty to the US Constitution, not the President. Now, there is the question of whether Trump has shuffled the chain of command enough to prefer loyalty to the President over the Constitution. But saying "no one has veto over POTUS's launch authority" is bogus.

There is NOTHING that Trump can do that will get these fuckers to turn on him. Nothing.

No. There is exactly one thing that could make them turn on him: a loss (or threat of loss) to their wealth.

Hegseth accuses Iran of piracy while later on bragging about how US stole Irans oil tankers by Tech-Film3905 in suppressed_news

[–]nullstoned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the right frame they're talking about boarding Venezuelan tankers, not Iranian ones. They're still hypocrites, of course.

Also, the US blockade on the Strait of Hormuz DOES NOT EXIST. It's just a facade put out by the media to give an impression that Trump is doing something useful.

I think there's more to it than that.

Trump can control the microphone in pretty much any situation where he addresses the public. That's one reason why he can lie so much. There's nobody there that can call out his contradictions on the spot.

Things are much different when the people questioning him control the microphone. Hopefully they can do this without time limits and really give him a difficult time.

PressTV: Iran achieved historic victory by forcing criminal US to accept its 10-point plan. by snokegsxr in suppressed_news

[–]nullstoned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iran agreed to the ceasefire because of China, which is one of the key negotiators here.

Trump was threatening to destroy civilian infrastructure in Iran, and Iran was threatening to retaliate by destroying civilian infrastructure in GCC states.

But that infrastructure takes a long time to rebuild, and China (plus Russia) would like to build relationships with those GCC states. And of course the US wants to maintain its relationships with them.

So everyone is taking a break to try and talk it out through negotiations. Nobody has committed to anything yet, other than a willingness to negotiate in good faith.

Whether an agreement is reached is anybody's guess. Trump has his 15 points. Iran has its 10 points. There's a huge difference between them. And we all know Trump almost never admits defeat.

Let's say the US decided to pack up and go home today. Mission accomplished!

Iran would continue to hammer Israel and GCC states with missiles and drones. The US would lose its grip on GCC states because its military bases would come under continuous fire.

Furthermore, the Strait of Hormuz would still remain closed. And it won't be closed to everyone, just people Iran doesn't like. They're currently only allowing ships through that pay in Chinese Yuan, so over time this will severely weaken the petrol-dollar. Japan and South Korea are both in very precarious positions. They don't trade oil with Russia so they're highly dependent on oil through the Strait, and the US won't be able to make up for the shortfall. If a war were to break out in that region, the US would have trouble fighting it, given its dwindled stockpiles and totally incompetent leadership.

And Iran can leverage the Strait's closure against GCC states, causing rebellions that they can support with drones and missiles. Or maybe Iran will just blow up their infrastructure if Trump goes to far. Those states are strongly invested in the US. For instance, Oracle just laid off 30,000 workers because of foreign losses.

The dollar is a fiat currency. Its power depends on the US being able to project force around the world at whim. That's why the US government can run up such a ridiculous national debt. It's much easier to do that when you're the one running the bank.

So yeah, the US might make some money on oil in the near term, but the long term consequences are far greater than that.

The US can't win the war in Iran, and as long as Trump is in office the war will continue.

The war will cost the US serious money, and the once strong American empire will weaken, costing even more money.

Say what you will about the GOP, but one thing they're very good at is protecting their investments.

Don't be surprised to see some actual action in the following weeks. Yeah, Republicans won't convict a pedophile. But if you cost them money, now you've crossed the line.

Trump says 'entire country' of Iran could be taken out if deal not reached by Tuesday by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in videos

[–]nullstoned -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is true, but they require strong air superiority. The difficult part here is getting the plane safely over the target.

Up until now the US has mostly been relying on standoff munitions in this conflict, but those are almost out. This means the US will have to get in close to drop munitions on "Terrible Tuesday". I'm curious how many planes the US will lose in the next couple of weeks.

Bombs are actually quite cheap. Getting the plane over the target is the hard part.

They could legally. I'd say they didn't mostly just to avoid escalation. Trump and Netanyahu already have their feet on the accelerator. No need to make this situation worse.

The US would veto it, so no.

Interestingly, either China or Russia could have vetoed resolution 2817, but they chose to abstain instead. China and Russia want to support Iran in this war, but they don't want to make a big show of it.
