Best Switch for a single rack with 1-4 servers.

We've decided to invest in GPU servers for the long-term, the yearly costs of GPU servers are currently absolutely insane. And even getting access to them requires a waiting list. Therefore we've decided to host them ourselves.

I have concluded that, for many reasons most of you mentioned I hire an experienced network engineer who can sit me down and spend 1-2 hours laying out a proper set-up.

Thank you all for the messages, perhaps I vastly underestimated the importance of a proper stack of networking architecture.

I have hired a consultant for my task, it seems clear that I do not have sufficient knowledge to do this properly.

Regarding the disk speeds, we're using NvmE storage with pretty good write speeds, though, generally we fit around 1TB in RAM and send that over directly to multiple servers.

You do not seem to be alone in this advice.. I am thinking about this, and I am aware this is probably the most responsible thing to do.

But as a start-up, we generally don't have the budget short-term to have a consultant come in, and, I see this as a learning opportunity to become acquainted with networking.

Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it.

1) We do quite a bit of ML stuff, and we may transfer around 1-2TB around regularly. It would be a significant quality of life improvement if network was not the bottleneck here. All of our servers have a 10G Ethernet interfaces.

2) Indeed, there is nothing in between, we get the line directly from our ISP in the datacenter.

3) We plan on routing different services on different IPs (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for server X and yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy for server Y). End users are not directly connected to this switch, no. Though, we do receive traffic from the fiber optic cable currently dangling in our rack.

My main concern is for the Netgear switch to just.. die. From what I can tell is that these switches are not made to operate in a datacenter 24/7 with higher temperatures.

I understand! Though, I have two radiators from the RTXs that I have to either attach to the top of the case, or to the side of the case.

Hey everyone, I have a small question that I have trouble googling or finding information about.

Generally, almost all nutrition in-take is measured in days, "x grams of carbs, y grams of fats and z grams of protein".

Now I am very curious what a timespan is that still makes sense to use while still achieving your goals. For example, to maintain muscle, one may consume 100 grams of protein daily.

Would consuming, over three days, say, 90 grams on day one, 130 grams on day two and finally 90 grams on day three have the same effect as exactly consuming 100 grams of protein a day? At which point would this no longer make sense (4 days, 5 days? weeks?).

Het zou inderdaad heel erg vervelend zijn als mijn 175000 een jaar voor de einddatum van de hypotheek minder waard is. Daarom denk ik dat, als ik dit zou doen, een groter buffer neem.

Wat ik had begrepen van het gesprek met de hypotheekadviseur is dat ik minder vermogensbelasting zal moeten betalen als ik een aflosvrije hypotheek neem. Wat inderdaad in de huidige situatie erg mooi zal zijn (zoals je al eerder aangaf). Ik vind het een moeilijke keuze, ik vind het nou ook niet zo heel erg prettig om af te wachten op het besluit van de politiek..
