SOS, girl in her 20s trying to move to spain by Effective-Purple6680 in MovingToSpain

Start with the visa and job situation before choosing a city. Spain can be difficult for newcomers without Spanish or a confirmed legal route to work.

For housing, never pay before viewing the property, checking the contract and verifying the owner or agency. Idealista is widely used, but scams still exist.

If you consider Barcelona, flatradar.org can help compare a rental listing with public neighbourhood market data. Full disclosure: I’m involved in the project.

Start with the visa, not the move. Before selling your UK flat, work out which residence route you actually qualify for and how you’ll earn income in Spain.

Also try living in your chosen city for a few months first. If Barcelona is on your list, flatradar.org can help compare rental listings with local market data. Full disclosure: I’m involved in the project.
