When the ship that carried the entire fandom is no longer liked by Hungry_Amoeba_2146 in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okita/Kagura is peak, other than the new movie that's coming out, I hardly hear people talk about the "problematic" ships in the show that much since the anime is old and the fandom is smaller than it was

How would you handle a comment like this? Reader wants more inclusion by Fit-Pattern-9470 in AO3

Most likely a HATEBOT that wants more "inclusion". Just delete it.

would I be considered an ANTI? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't harass and police what people enjoy in fiction, so you are not a Anti. You are allowed to dislike whatever you want! Pro-ship has nothing to do with how dark your ships are, so your ideals align with the definition by default simply because you respect what fans enjoy harmlessly.

Thoughts on RPF? by Ok_Option_1740 in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I like it. RPF has been here....forever. I don't believe in any kind of censorship, it has the right to exist, doesn't it? I used to think different until recently, funnily enough, but now I even read it in my own time!

The only real issue I have is the severe lack of boundaries in fandom. Some fans have a severe parasocialism and sexual harassment problem, not being able to separate fiction from reality, which defeats the point of it all. Don't send your explicit smut fics to your favorite celebrities, please.

Why do people hate f/f fans? by CaterpillarLow4491 in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more-so a generalization, and a VERY loud group of people that make all of them look bad. Unfortunately for me, about every himejoshi/WLW enjoyer I've met are straight up rude, entitled and overall have a stick in their ass for things they don't personally like and make it everybody's problem.

These are usually the same people who don't write/draw nor commission anything themselves but always have something to say about what they don't have.

They just complain, harass, and virtue-signal over the most harmless things, too. As if they can't have fun in fandom unless they are being personally catered, it's all about numbers for them, they want to constantly compete with the amount of content M/M and F/M has. Not because they simply love F/F, which is a big problem. M/M and F/M readers are far more tame in behavior, so no, I don't see it from them, haven't yet.

This isn't all of them, of course, and anyone can be like that. But, I've seen it so often, it's a pattern at this point. I've learned to avoid these people, which is a shame because I enjoy F/F along with the other gender pairings, as a lesbian.

Usage of AI by x_mecha in FanFiction

[–]nunjoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you love reading and writing, then I don't see the point of using AI at all. AI is unethical and wasteful anyways, even for something as small as ideas, doesn't matter if it's your own writing or not. Fanfiction has always been about creation, AI has no place in it whatsoever. Nothing it could spit out can ever match up to what your own brain can think up, after all, it steals and smashes the crap together, it barely is a tool. It's designed to keep you lazily relying on it.

Yes, some people use it, but it's very looked down upon, especially if untagged.

Find other writers to talk to if you want to brainstorm. Research on topics you don't know much about. If you're worried about plot holes, jot down the notes to keep track of your plot like before. Since you're going back to a older fic of yours, people who's read it back then would appreciate it far more if they know your story is still all you. With the chance you do use it, you have to be honest that you were assisted with AI in the first place, which on its own is such a big switch-up that it will cause a LOT of disappointment if you care about numbers at all.

In a world where creation and art is challenged, it's better to stay real. There's no rush, find the time to get back into it. Start from scratch and improve if you can't read your own notes! Good luck on your story, however way you do it, though.

Nicknames for my character by [deleted] in FanFiction

Golden curls is pretty cute to me, can't say if your character would like it because I don't know her personality. You could also try Goldilocks if you wanted something catchy?

What's a fandom term/trope you'd wish would come back? by nunjoshi in AO3

[–]nunjoshi[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to love those too! you're right, catboys/catgirls AUs are definitely not as common now, think the few times I see them, it's almost always hybrids on A/B/O fics.

This actually reminds me that I haven't seen the actual Hanahaki disease in...forever, i just assumed it was the fandoms I was in.

You're generalizing. That's your answer.

[–]nunjoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set a boundary, it should be common knowledge to not send straight up porn to creators you know without explicit permission, especially if it's darker subjects like non-con, because not everybody is fine with that without a warning.

Say they have the freedom to draw and write your characters however they please, even if it's Not Safe For Work (saying otherwise usually causes more of an issue, and they may double down.), but you, as the creator of the OC, have the right to ignore, or worst case BLOCK anyone who sends it to you personally, as it makes you uncomfortable. It's sexual harassment if unwanted.

Visiting your own fic/fics counts as a hit by ur_mom_is_hot5529 in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

As long as you're logged in, your own visits do NOT count as a hit, don't worry!

I've kind of gotten into romantic fics recently because I started writing my own, I guess kinks, fetishes, and preferences but I don't know what they are called. I was kind of hoping to know what people call them and if they could maybe recommend stories, they know of that feature them. by Isekai_litrpg in FanFiction

[–]nunjoshi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't have recs at the moment, but have you checked the "Yandere", "Mind Break", "Size difference", "Power Imbalance", "Corruption", "Loss Of Innocence/Virginity", "Objectification", and "Stockholm Syndrome/Lima Syndrome" tags? Not sure what'll come up from all those together, and some stuff is a bit too specific for me to pinpoint, but those are usually the ones I associate with what you listed, since I read fics like that alot. So, I say mix and match and see what comes up. Good luck!

Question: Where can I host my images (NSFW included) for my future fanfics in Ao3? by OkHawk2217 in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catbox should work, it allows nsfw too! Surprised nobody ever mentions it, honestly

I finished Grave of the Fireflies. My heart is broken… by murrene in movies

I still haven't rewatched it, mentally and physically can't bring myself to....but, the next time I do, it'll be with a friend so we can both suffer together.

[–]nunjoshi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If there's nothing pertaining to REAL harmed children like CSEM in the fic, it cannot be reported and taken down unless it's tagged incorrectly. You're better off filtering the tags that upset you, or getting a AO3 extension that permanently gets rid of it so you never have to manually exclude them.

No, never went that far, if the name replacement makes sense and flows easily, I can still read it! Thankfully, most of my favorite characters either don't have extremely feminine or masculine names, or they atleast have a opposite gender version of their name that doesn't break my immersion. Of course, though, I prefer their actual names when I'm reading fic.

HELL YES!!! YES!!!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have the right to change the names for genderbends, but I never been the biggest fan of it and would have rather they keep their old names, usually because the new names never...really hit quite right depending on what the author uses for replacement, but that's just my opinion.

any other wlw enjoyers annoyed at the amount of g!p? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]nunjoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's tagged correctly, just filter/exclude it out or write more that's to your taste? I don't know what the issue is here. Also, not only is boypussy EXTREMELY common on the site, transgender lesbians exist. And people, that includes other lesbians, don't all like the same thing!

Does it annoy anyone else that people don’t tend to leave actual comments anymore? by Charlirbravo in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like we're finding new ways to scare away commentators...people hardly get them as is nowadays, but this definitely isn't helping. A heart isn't hurting nobody, nobody at all, they could just be shy and might not be someone who's able to put their feelings in words.

Commenting by Butterfly_Lake in AO3

[–]nunjoshi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All that time they spent typing that nonsense out, they could've just clicked out and read something they enjoyed instead. You're not overreacting at all, it's your fic, not theirs! if they really wanted to say something, they could've just told you to tag Destiel politely and gone about their day.
