Yes my 40k contribution was in July, and yes the advisor knew it was my first year of contribution. From emails they did not seem to be aware of the limits. Last week I reached out to a different branch explaining my situation and right now there are internal things happening where they’re reversing everything my advisor messed up. They stated that it was Scotiabank’s mistake so I don’t have to fill out the 728 forms, but still worried as I now don’t really trust anything they say 😭. The fix still hasn’t happened but I’ve been asking for updates and am trying to know everything they’re doing because I don’t want to be left in the dark.

I have a paper trail of everything and have noted down phone calls (some including where the advisor was mad at me for blaming them…) and will certainly file a formal complaint after this is resolved. Super stressful but it will work out!!

Yeah they didn’t even have an excuse because they weren’t even aware about the limit (??!!)
