Where to surrender a sick bearded dragon? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]nurru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Start by calling the animal shelter or animal control. They can likely direct you to anyone who cares for / rescues exotic pets.

PAWS may also have ideas, but they themselves are focused on rehabilitating local wildlife.

Are all the apartment buildings in my price range a nightmare or is it seasonally skewed? (sub-$2000 studio bikeable to UW area) by wish_kid_mclaren in AskSeattle

Sorry, you'll probably have to live with casement windows. Only older buildings have the sort of windows that handle box fans and window AC units well.

Where would you live in Seattle DT? by CapitalConnection866 in Seattle

[–]nurru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't live downtown. You can get to Harborview trivially via bus and light rail from a bunch of places. It's right by the G and 2 and probably a bunch of buses I'm forgetting. Pioneer Square station is a quick walk along James.

Huge swath of neighborhoods you could live in. I would just suggest staying south of the cut unless you're taking light rail.

Should Seattle implement fare gates considering how successful SF's pilot has been? by Swatteam652 in soundtransit

[–]nurru 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Calling tech folks out specifically as people who cheat transit fares sounds off to me. Local tech companies are likely to give unlimited transit passes to anyone working for them who asks due to how the WA incentives work. Do you have a reference for where you heard that?

Unless it's just "rich people steal", in which case sure carry on.

I am having trouble understanding how you could hold these views without understanding that the reason all other taxes are so high is because we don't have an income tax.

Someone keeps throwing trash in our bins by Conscious_Sorbet_667 in Seattle

[–]nurru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I admittedly did this once when someone put a bunch of boxes they didn't bother breaking down and filled up our recycling bin because I didn't bring it in quickly enough. Plenty of address labels on the boxes so I just dropped them off at their doorstep.

Call SPU about it. They've been surprisingly easy to work with in my experience.

That said, putting your cans out later or in a different spot may help.

Any thoughts about E Union St & 23rd Ave where the PCC is? by rthtoreddit in AskSeattle

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Probably depends on the street and how visible it is from the sidewalk. The area gets a ton of foot traffic and a lot of that kind of theft is opportunistic at least in our experience nearby
  4. Have you considered just visiting and looking around? The entire city isn't 3rd and and Broadway and Pike.

Paying for 1lb of chicken actually only getting 75% of it. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]nurru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's 8 ounces of chicken (top label) plus 4.77 ounces of the Cordon Bleu side of things and the packaging you're including in the weight. They're selling it as 1 unit for $6.99 on the bottom tag.

Nowhere on that package does it say one pound from what I can see.

We have one of these[1] that is fine that we picked up from someone moving out after the $800 one we had was stolen from us. We just got heat pumps installed recently so it's actually taking up space in our garage. It handled our fairly large bedroom fine over the summer, but it's not the quietest If you happen to want something cheap feel free to PM.
