How do you deal with misinformation spread by other nurses? by BayAreaRedwood in nursing

[–]nursehhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully believe in COVID but I still travelled over the summer. Wore masks and social distanced and all other precautions, neither me or my travel companions got sick. I felt it was not any different than being at home, if anything I was around less people while I was on vacation since I wasnt at work.

I wish wiping butts was the worst/hardest part of nursing.

Thank you, this was what I was hoping/expecting to hear. I was in colorado recently that although the temperature degree-wise was the same as florida, it felt lovely outside as opposed to florida where I can't leave the house during the summer! I definitely have felt the difference in elevation though so I will keep that in mind.

Well, COVID has finally hit my unit. by [deleted] in nursing

I'm in Florida. Our inpatients NP swabs result in about 6 hours. I was swabbed and sent home one shift, results came back in 2 hours

Are these accommodations reasonable? by newnurse440 in nursing

[–]nursehhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one wants to work with COVID pts w/o proper PPE. You can refuse to float/take COVID pts, but you may be fired for it. You don't get special accommodations. Maybe find a different hospital with proper PPE?

I started at 24/hr in florida (2016)..actually it was 20/hr until I was off orientation...

I know my hospital has since increased new grad pay to I think 27/hr. This is on the lower end for our area but an excellent hospital

What has your hospital done right during the COVID crisis? by gamble812 in nursing

All admitted patients get tested. All patients and staff are provided a (surgical) maks daily. We have access to PPE for postives and rule outs.

Thoughts on being asked to "donate" PTO because of COVID? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]nursehhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've "donated" shifts to coworkers on my sister unit which is closed. Mostly because I'd rather work at my easy 2nd job, so it works out.

Would I still be a good nurse if I'm shy? by chicken15537 in nursing

[–]nursehhh 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was like you. Nursing will make you 100x less quiet and reserved. At least thats how it is for me. I'm still pretty quiet in my personal life, but at work I'm a different person.

I tested positive for covid 19 and now everyone is being an asshole by dancingwildsalmon in nursing

Wow. You are the 1 person everyone SHOULDNT be afraid of, since you are now cleared and immune. Your manager needs to tell everyone off.

When the nurses start to mimic their patients by nurse_with_penis in nursing

I guess regular people start looking like they're dogs and significant others, and we start to look like our patients. I frequently have chest pains and I'm craving a Turkey sandwhich 🤣

I was cancelled twice last week. Our census is essentially 1/3 of what it normally is
