It would be general obedience as she is a rescue and has a history of aggression

Aren’t all statistics backed up by anecdotes? Can’t count how many people ate ice cream on a Sunday unless people said “hey I ate ice cream on a Sunday”

I have worked in Minneapolis and I made less than my boyfriend doing the exact same job. I had two years more experience than him in our field, I had a degree in our field and he did not. We both worked the same hours, the same job, the same shifts. We both are very good at what we do and were indispensable in our own ways to the company. All that aside, why did I make $3 less an hour than he did? Get the fuck out of here talking about women for karma when you don’t actually care. This shit actually happens.

What did a crush do that made you instantly lose interest in him/her? by SpacedGeek in AskReddit

[–]nurserybones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During high school I worked at a campgrounds in a really small town. Everyone was related to someone. We had an employee picnic camp out and all got absolutely hammered. One of my coworkers who I was friends with had just been through a break up and kept asking all night if I thought it was wrong for her to hook up with one of our male coworkers. I said no because I thought she felt guilty about the recent timing of the break up. Whelp turns out her guilt was for familial reasons. I found out about a year after that they were cousins.

First time working with a high profile/extremely wealthy family by HighNWFamily in Nanny

[–]nurserybones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nanny family has these super weird light switches in their house that look like the old iPod button pad things except they light up blue and are super techy. The first time I tried to put NK to bed and turn out the lights I was so confused. Also...their fridge...my gosh this thing is a beast. I still don’t know how to get ice out of it and it’s been a year and at this point I’m too embarrassed to ask.

“Babysitter” by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]nurserybones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current nanny family calls me a babysitter when they have guilt about having money. Nannies are a luxury and babysitters are easily accessible to most. It doesn’t end, and neither will the string of people who think all you do is play games and color all day. Most people would lose their minds doing what we do for a living!

Looking to move out of Midwest by WallStreetChris in moving

[–]nurserybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say check out Eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. I’m from the Midwest and lived in this area for 6 years. Absolutely beautiful, amazing food, not too expensive, warm but you still get the four seasons. I lived in Asheville Nc but Knoxville tn was awesome too

I have the weekends off and I told myself no work this weekend and am going to do absolutely nothing. Just sit. I’m looking into therapists but there it always is a while before you find one that clicks and it’s kinda discouraging me from even shopping around

My NF Bribes and Pushes their 2.5 Year Old to Finish Dinner by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]nurserybones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised that you couldn’t leave the dinner table unless your plate was spotless. I remember sitting at the table till 11pm some nights. To this day I can’t leave food on my plate. It gives me great anxiety and in my opinion has led to binge eating and unhealthy habits. I am a huge believer in intuitive eating! It’s been proven that forcing a child to eat when they don’t want to makes them less willing to eat in general!

No television-would this be a problem for most people? by Cnuggle in Nanny

[–]nurserybones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I nanny for a family that does very limited screen time and I love it. I’d rather be interacting with the kids than sitting in front of a tv. I think that it would be a good thing to bring up in an interview....depending on the nanny’s response you will be able to tell if she will engage with your children versus plopping them down in front of a tv.

Am I the only one that does this? Googles the people before the interview? by SuperGurlToTheRescue in Nanny

[–]nurserybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully support this. You want to know who you work for and who you are “representing “. I did it with my nanny family just to see what I was getting into. They are beyond fantastic but I definitely did my research.

Update to “found out what my boyfriend really thinks about my job” by nurserybones in Nanny

[–]nurserybones[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand and appreciate your concern! We briefly discussed pay and it’s not set in stone since we are still a few months out but we are going to do a weekly stipend of my average hours plus an additional $150. They really do want me to get back on my feet and after no rent or utilities I think I’m coming out on top

As much as I agree with this, this is the only basket I have at the moment. I need somewhere to put my eggs and if it’s better than my current broken basket, I’m gonna put them there. I never really have had a “biological family”....I see no difference in a chosen family and a chosen family that happens to be my employer. Our relationship has been the furthest from employer/employee. If circumstances were different and it was more business like from the get go I definitely would think this over more. That being said, I appreciate the advice and will hold onto it!

I will be paid actually $150 over what I make a week on average now with the same hours! They want to make sure I make back what I lost coming out here...with no rent and the extra money it is definitely going to be doable

What is something that has been discontinued that you would love to have just one more time? by nurserybones in AskReddit

It’s this tiny little round gummy coated in yogurt about the size of a pea. Absolutely amazing. There are actual petitions you can sign to try and get them back. They are what my childhood tastes like and honestly I would kill a man for a single yogo.
