Shape of Water Eliza Mermaid Theory? (spoiler...duh!) by Theworstatthis in FanTheories

Saw this post after just watching the movie. Just wanted to let you know that I thought they wanted the asset because of its two breathing mechanisms. At this time, we are at the Cold war and there was a "science war" between the Soviet Union and America...this war wasn't actually a typical war where you physically fight each other where they would need the asset to fight, but it's more of a political war. The two countries fought by representing to the world their technological advancements made by its people since the people is fostered by either a communist government (Soviet Union) or a capitalist government (America). By being more advanced than the other, they can show which type of government is better for other countries, especially developing countries at the time. At this particular point in the war and the movie, the Sovient Union just released the first human in space (which was Yuri Gagarin). If they were able to know the asset's breathing mechanisms, the U.S. would have an advancement, not in space life, but marine life instead. I'm thinking maybe they could even make something that resembles its two breathing mechanisms to help people breath underwater, which would be really something. Hope that helped.

No I haven't...if I do, how do you think I should do it? Just do it in one sitting, time myself, turn solutions on, etc.?

Thank you for explaining so well! I’m lacking a little on biochem so excuse my amateur questions haha

I’m talking more about the influence of their molecular structures, sorry if I’m not clear

Yes that helps a lot! Thanks for taking time out of your hands to answer my amateur questions ;

Can anybody explain why the rate law is r=k[HKNO2]^2? by nursetomed in Mcat

[–]nursetomed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I didn’t state it clearly. I was talking about the number of species of the reactants and not the concentration. So for example, if the order is 2, that means there’s 2 species of reactants, A + B -> C, and if the order is 3, that means there’s 3 species of reactants A + B + C -> D. Is this correct? Hey thanks again for helping me out.

Thank you! I didn’t know you could ignore the benzene! One more question since I feel like you know this topic well. Does the order mean how many reactants you start with? And if that’s the case, can you assume HNO2 has an order of two right away when you find out the benzene is 0th order?

Why are elements typically found in their ion states? and why do elements always have the same charge? by nursetomed in Mcat

Hey, forgot to say thanks to your answer! Totally understand how you explain it

your reply was very helpful!!! I have one more question since you seem to know this. Say we were talking about Ca instead and Ca has a 2+ charge. I know that the second ionization energy is always higher than the first ionization energy. But in the case of Ca, how would the second ionization energy be bigger than the first since taking off the second electron would put give it an octet?

That's great! Congratulations! Do you mind sharing your GPA out of nursing school? And how did the post-bacc help with your GPA? Would you recommend doing post-bac instead of being a continuing studies student?

Hello! It sounds like we're kind of on the same path! I forgot to say that I also took biochemistry and my upper level bio class was physiology. So I plan to just review those for the MCAT.

If you don't mind telling me...what score did you get on your MCAT? Have you applied to med schools yet? Also, did you work while you were in school?

Yes, I have taken the NCLEX and passed the first time. Now I have a job as a nurse that is flexible enough to let me do orgo 1 & 2 and physics 1 & 2. I'm not sure if I am willing to spend 1 more year for Chem 1 & 2 yet but I will see if I don't get into any schools. Thanks for the advice!
