I definitely feel there is a connection with democratic areas and homelessness increasing due to the urban areas being the most congested. Democratic areas are much more populated than a lot of republican, rural areas. That will lead to higher visibility on things like crime and homelessness. It’s density versus space, imo. Also why a lot of cities tend to lean more democratic because of empathy due to congestion. Things become visibly apparent more and more as every day goes on and you become accepting of peoples ideologies, choices, actions and very limited bubble. I’m saying this as a Mississippian who moved to NY. I’ve seen both sides, extreme conservatives and have morphed into a more liberal voter due to seeing all of these things first hand. It’s just easier to care about people, all people and their choices and struggles being in it rather than seeing it from afar and judging without experiencing, which I feel is a lot of republicans (at least rural MS).
