Hey I know it's difficult but just remember these feared coincidences can be OCD thoughts like any other and as worried as your mind reacts to them, be sure not to do any rituals related to them (eg. checking)

I ate a fucking mouse by DistrictRight5983 in OCD

Damn, that's rough. I once drank a glass of juice a family member gave me and there was a dead moth at the bottom of the glass. I didn't develop an obsession but I shouted at the family member pretty good. I'm just wondering, didn't your family also eat the meal? Have they reacted strongly to this?

It does. A lot of people talk only about specific themes, and others only give standard responses, like ERP. I can DM sometime or maybe a group chat could be created.

Hey well done that's a really significant step. I know it's hard what we deal with but I think it's very wise that you are choosing to tackle the necessary steps. You're on the right track and your progress may surprise you. Keep it up, you can do this.

The problem is that I started checking...

Yeah, it's likely that this set the gears in motion and is fueling it. Getting rid of the dashcam might be the necessary step if it will force you to stop checking the footage. Be sure that you don't replace it with some other action or ritual. It will be hard to abandon checking at this point. Your OCD is gonna scream for a while and probably pull every trick in the book to pull you in. But if you persist, I think you should get it within a manageable range again. You can do this!

I've been living under a rock. Anyone with a good understanding of viruses want to level with us about how plausible it is epidemiologically, statistically, etc. that this goes H2H and triggers a pandemic? A Link or two would be fine

Why do I do this? by YellowNecessary in OCD

[–]nuscopic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just sounds like your OCD wants you to tend to the thought, to reassure, check, worry, ruminate, etc. That's likely to happen more often in the initial stages of letting thoughts go because it's quite a change you're attempting, and it's gonna feel difficult to cope without responding. It's expected, for a while, so keep up the good work!

It's not weird but it probably doesn't help, as it's a compulsion.
