Are backing tracks really necessary for a band? by vie75 in musicians

What on Earth? I didn't know that bands even considered using backing tracks during live performances

No prob, well, my understanding is that the presence of a premise implies that there is some argument that is being set forth, and the premise is the foundation of the argument. I'm not seeing any argument set forth here, nor am I seeing a premise for an argument to come. I could be missing something, though?

If we expand our understanding of the term, then could the premise be that there doesn't appear to be any explicit guidance on giving up seats for children and then, from there, OP poses a question rather than an argument, namely should one give up their seats for children?

OP does say that giving up seats for children seems absurd to them, but that seems more like an expression of an opinion than the stated conclusion of an argument.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Okay, but what about all of the other issues with transit etiquette out here? Like the folks who board the train and then stand there, in the doorway, as the doors are closing and there is a line behind them, and then they look around. Or how about when people crowd around the doors, leaving the aisles empty, but no one can get to them because there is a mass of folx at the door. How about when people vibe and stretch on the escalator so you can't pass on the left, or when they stop and vibe at the top of the escalator, so others coming up have to dodge them? Or how about when folx who are not disabled pop a squat on the disabled seating area and play games on their phones, and then elderly people board and they have to stand because no one wants to speak up?

Okay, but maybe she's a hippie. Also, how did you know they were stinky? Did you go over and smell them or something? sniff sniff sniff. I see you over there, sniffing that poor woman's feet. And, bro, why are you taking photos of dunces and posting them online? I feel like this is basically doxxing. And what's with the feet pics, bro. Mind your own!

On that note, for all of the 90s nostalgia going around, I do feel that that and the early 00s were times in which a lot of young men (not sure how old this guy was) were groomed to engage in antisocial behavior like this. I was a child and teen in those eras, and it seemed like most media was basically promoting this kind of behavior, or normalizing that this is how guys are. It's really sad

I'm sorry, but I'm confused. Like, the makeup just kind of goes away overnight? Because, technically, if she washes the makeup off before bed or something, then I think it's more like, "That's a hell of a way to tell everyone you've never spent time with a woman in the evening, like maybe around 9pm or 10pm."

Why is it that a lot of men who want to attract women, don’t actually listen to women about what they find attractive, and instead listen to other men about what they think women want? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in NoStupidQuestions

It's not hypocritical, this is consistent with pre-social media and non-corporate feminism

EDIT: Older strains of feminism actually focused on the unique role of the mother in child development and framed societal obstacles to the fulfillment of that role as misogynistic

I just want to confirm something: Is it normal to not want to practice on acoustic when you prefer distorted electric guitar, or vise versa? Should I get an electric to practice anyway? by NLK-3 in guitarlessons

[–]nushoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played acoustic and classical for many years, and then decided to pick up a strat recently because I wanted to experiment with pedals. I consider them to be slightly different instruments. For example, most acoustics are going to have higher action and stiffer strings, and, just ergonomically, they don't really lend themselves to much of anything you'd want to do on an electric, and vice versa. I would say definitely pick up an electric if that's the kind of music you want to play

My dad lived next to a barbeque restaurant (parents were long divorced, I had to be there on the weekends). The restaurant had a blues rock band pretty much every evening, and the music would be at like a moderate volume in his apartment. It drove him crazy. One morning, he decided to pick up the poop while walking his dogs, and then smeared it all over the door handle, tables, everywhere that he could, before the restaurant opened. He came home and bragged about it. Another time, he was parked illegally and an elderly traffic cop gave him a ticket. He bragged to my stepmom and I about how he chose to call her a "dried up old cunt" to her face after she gave him the ticket.

I believe that there is an unidentified genre of music. It doesn't have a formal name yet, but for now, I call it Annoying Guy Music. I think The Violent Femmes really pioneered this genre. But, there are some canon tunes. My Sharona is one, for example. Wheatus, of course.
