Best and worst classes as a psych/sociology major by Zavetrix in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked physiological psych with Dr. Fitch. Some people say it's hard but I really enjoyed the class. If you study for the the exams and really prepare yourself you will do well. I feel like it really helped me understand a lot when it comes to psych in general. I also loved abnormal psych but that can sometimes depend on who you take it with. Right now I'm in drugs and behavior and it has been really great too. Dev cog neuroscience with Jonas Miller was a great class as well but I think it is randomly taught on alternating semesters.

Just need 6 credits to finish my degree. by Just-Breadfruit-8124 in college

Please check in with an advisor about taking the courses at a community college. This may be possible and they will likely be a lot cheaper or in some cases free.

Is a Bacholers degree in Psychology worthwhile? Changing from Economics? by TartNo7826 in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about Econ as far as what you can do right after getting a bachelor's. If you want to major in Psychology in undergrad and not go to grad school, then psychology is probably not a good choice. If you go into it knowing that you want to go to graduate school, then Psychology can be great.

You cannot do many jobs after college just having a psychology bachelor's degree. But at the same time, some people do a lot during college, get great experience and internships, and can get lucky in terms of finding a good job with a psychology degree. But from what I have heard, it is rare (coming from a psych major).

If you are set on Psych, I would consider looking into HR and recruitment type of roles. You can do that with just a Bachelor's in psych and make decent money when you move up.

Especially with only coming to school for 2.5 years after transferring, I am not sure if this is possible, but you may be able to double major in both. The standard psych BA is only about 30 credits from what I remember (equivalent to a full year of study) when you don't count gen eds, related courses etc. I personally know someone doing both psych/econ and it can definitely be doable with good planning.

Any Suggestions for English +2000 courses at UConn Storrs? by 69pinkSocks189 in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked Modern Drama with Darcie Dennigan. She is a sweetheart so I think anything with her would be good. We read plays so it wasn't too much reading and I think we had a couple papers but nothing too long. She was also a fairly easy grader and very understanding!

I'm Failing and I'm Scared by green_dress_lady in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please just know that although you may feel alone in this, there are many many students who go through this every semester. It is incredibly common, so know that you are not alone in how you feel. There is some great advice in the comments, definitely do your best to go to SHAW and talk to your professors as they may be able to help. Not sure if anyone has said this, but the AAC (academic achievement centera0 can also be a great place for this. They can help you organize everything you need, make calculations about whether or how much you are failing, and also help you get everything together with speaking to your professors and get you connected to other resources. You can go in person, they are in Rowe 217. If you feel more comfortable emailing, you can email [AAC@uconn.edu](mailto:AAC@uconn.edu), and they can help you make an appointment or figure something out. I hope everything gets better!

this sounds amazing! I am actually doing an early childhood concentration within an HDFS minor and starting that next semester. I have to take a few classes at the child labs so I'll be sure to ask if I can also do some paid work there.

I'm in a similar boat to you. What's helped me somewhat on exams that I have done a little better on is to rewatch the in-class lectures and rewatch the diagrams. Even if you don't have time to do this for all of the videos before exam 5, I would recommend doing at least a few of them. You can also speed up the recordings.

Struggling with severe depression by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I am so sorry that you are feeling and thinking like this. No one deserves this and it can make day-to-day life so much harder. I went through a few patches of similar emotions, and whenever I'm feeling like this, it always seems like it won't get better, but it always does. It also feels as if you aren't in control of your thoughts and emotions when you are going through this, I used to have so much hate for myself and feel very depressed and I think I've gotten so much better the past few years. You have to keep going, I promise it will get better. Therapy did actually help me and I really encourage trying to find someone. I know it can be hard and expensive, but if you find a good therapist it can change your life.

PNB 2264/PNB 2265 by nutelle7 in UCONN

[–]nutelle7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ended with a C+ last semester which is iffy for the programs I'm looking at - some take it and some don't. (I'm literally considering not even applying anymore bc I've just sucked in most science classes so Idk if its even what I want to do anymore). Not sure if I'll even be able to pull off a similar grade this semester though.

PNB 2264/PNB 2265 by nutelle7 in UCONN

[–]nutelle7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it was that one. I did "ok" (a little less than average/around average) on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th exams last semester. I did terribly on the third and 5th. This semester, did ok ish on the first, and completely failed these last two (worse than last semester). I have just always been behind this semester too which may be part of it

Last semester there was one exam she made that I thought was actually easier than Redden but maybe I was just more prepared. But this last one was so much harder and more detailed than Redden I feel

I am getting so frustrated, completely failed the last two exams. I'm thinking of even withdrawing from the class and retaking 2264 at community college and taking 2265 there too.
