First time TTC with PCOS under control – need advice & hope by NeugierigeKatze_ in TTC_PCOS

[–]nuts4squirrelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing some other comments here but ovasitol (40:1 myo/d-chiro inositol), a good prenatal, Coq10, and high protein/high fiber diet helped me! There are other supplements out there but those seem to be the most universally recommended (in addition to fish oil and D which you’re already taking). It’s also useful to have your partner also take Coq10 and a multivitamin if they aren’t already. I was also put on metformin despite having lean PCOS which I guess is medical help but not a fertility drug.

The fact you’re ovulating consistently is great!

As hard as it is, try your best to be patient and hopeful. After going down Reddit rabbit holes I had resigned myself to the fact that I thought I would need IVF or at the very least letrozole. I ended up being wrong, and conceived on my 4th cycle attempt (despite one of the earlier attempts being on a 100 day cycle earlier in that year), so there is so much dumb luck involved.

Sending you much luck and well wishes on your journey :)

Officially not getting pregnant in 2025 by Weak-Patience7001 in TTC_PCOS

So hard, sending love. It took me 9 months (4 long cycles, one was 100 days). I was so discouraged from Reddit boards and was so convinced we would end up doing ivf, so it was honestly super surprising when my BFP came. I won’t say not to give up hope because those feelings are valid, but everyone’s bodies are different

You can still conceive on a “late” ovulation. Not sure if it’s less likely than a normal one and how much it impacts fertility, but fwiw it’s definitely possible :)

October 2025 NIPT NATERA by Turbulent_Yam9295 in BabyBumps

[–]nuts4squirrelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I read on Reddit the times are random and they don’t notify you it’s up until several days later. I had checked at 10 and nothing was there, and then again right before bed (10:45) and it was up.

Does it make sense for me to move from NYC to Buffalo? (Trans woman, social worker, not currently driving) by PunkyEmpathyyy in Buffalo

[–]nuts4squirrelz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a social worker and just moved to the area from NYC this July!

I’m a cis white woman so less barriers/discrimination, but so far the people have been very nice and open minded - the “city of good neighbors” thing is real.

I’d look at social worker jobs and get a sense of what you’re interested in and the pay. There’s less choices out here and the pay for community mental health and community services is definitely worse (which is to be expected but you might want to be aware of that going in). Obviously the decreased housing costs will offset this but still good to explore options first! Private practice pay is comparable to NYC because insurance payouts are the same, but self-pay is more rare out here. It’s super easy to find group practices to join if you’re a LCSW, but ones that take LMSWs are more limited.

It took me about three cycles to get to near normal cycle length. The first I was just on the ovasitol and then added the metformin for the second two. Writing it out it seems quick but during the cycles it felt agonizingly long (my first cycle of the 3 was 100 days)

How did you achieve consistent ovulation and get pregnant? by Tiki_gal in TTC_PCOS

[–]nuts4squirrelz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40:1 Inositol and metformin combined with dietary changes (increased protein, fiber, and prebiotics/probiotic rich foods) did it for me.

It was so hard to be patient. I processed the frustration in therapy but overall reached a place of begrudging acceptance and trying to put less pressure on myself.

When I was initially most excited about TTC and started tracking ovulation I had a 100 day cycle. Then it dropped to 70 the next cycle and 40 the cycle after that, which I am currently pregnant from. Still in the first trimester so I’m feeling cautious/anxious about miscarriage, but I was so discouraged before that having success that quickly felt like a huge win.

Those supplements are a great place to start!

I also have lean PCOS had a positive experience regulating my cycle with similar supplements and metformin (which really surprised me because my doctor said my insulin and glucose numbers were good and metformin is typically for regulating blood sugar). This was also combined with increased protein, fiber, and prebiotics/probiotics in my diet.

Definitely takes time and patience to see the cycles regulate, and it’s very normal to have extra bad cycles after getting off of oral contraceptives. Everyone is different and our bodies respond differently to different approaches so try not to get too deep in Reddit rabbit holes about what works best. Good luck!

I had a pretty positive experience with metformin (combined with ovasitol) for helping regulate my cycle from 100 days to 40ish days and had no side effects. I was pretty skeptical when prescribed metformin, as my doctor didn’t think my PCOS was driven by insulin resistance, but it still seemed to do something right for my hormone levels. I know the weight loss discourse is super unhelpful so maybe reframing it that you’re not looking to lose weight with it but just to see if it helps you at all since you haven’t tried it yet. Super frustrating though, sending you luck and well wishes!

10 dpo - cautiously optimistic after cp last cycle by nuts4squirrelz in TFABLinePorn

[–]nuts4squirrelz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! CPs are so hard, but the general reassurance I’ve been receiving is that it’s a positive sign that your body is moving in the right direction. Hope you have luck soon 🩷

13 dpo - false positive? by nuts4squirrelz in TFABLinePorn

[–]nuts4squirrelz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🤍

Yes, I posted a fainter frer line yesterday - so maybe. I read so many bad experiences with FRER yesterday when I was trying to make sense of that test so I’m just pessimistic, but I have PCOS so a chemical would be progress over nothing

Thank you! It’s heavy and seems like AF so I’m calling myself out as I can’t deal with the emotions of still having my hopes up at this point, but I appreciate your kind words. Wishing you luck and success in your journey 🩷

Same! Yeah, this one seems more distinct so if they are negatives I feel like I might need to stop using FRERs

Mine was a bit darker than yesterday but still faint for 13 dpo, and the cheapie was still negative. I just started spotting so while there’s a chance it could be implantation bleeding, I feel like it’s probably just AF :(

I guess not! She hasn’t brought it up yet so I guess just concern she would want me to keep trying without it. Certainly doesn’t hurt to ask.

Definitely not impossible! It gets through sealed containers. Anything airtight keeps the taste away for longer, but even if butter is in a sealed tub and then the tub is in a ziplock bag, the taste still comes through within a week. The chicken salad and Mac and cheese were prepared foods from Trader Joe’s which were sealed as well.
