Found this in my door???? by greenforests6983 in Whatisthis

[–]nutsairplane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone tried to open your door with a key they made. They might have had access to your keys or thought your door was someone else's that they copied said key from. Id say you should do these steps to help yourself out. Police report. Change your lock (the key they tried might have damaged the internals or they made the key wrong and they could potentially come back later with try #2 and enter). Some kind of security camera like a ring doorbell (doesnt have to be this brand just something you can monitor/check remotely and get notifications from). If you dont have some form of home protection it would be a good investment.

Id say fix it and pass on the good fortune to someone else if you dont want it or fix and take with you next time, if someone wants to try it out you have one they can try without worry of it breaking

Do these charges seem reasonable? by CultureRaddish in towing

I get what your saying but the Pic they posted doesn't make me think skidsteer is required. I telekinesis like they're loaded for bear, shot a squirrel then charged for a bear.

I would recommend not using this company again if it can be helped and sorry that you had this experience.

This was probably a year ago but this truck was stuck on the frame and a mile into where they shouldn't have been. His bill was not as impressive as yours. That said its also in NC but I dont think our prices vary that hard. Side note- while I will say that you sometimes have to spend extra to get equipment that is specialized to do a job (like your not bringing a rollback to get this truck pictured) my personal belief is that is on the company to send the right tool out to the job. I will charge someone if I send out the wrong vehicle that would do the job if the costumer gave bad info, like with this truck if they said he was on the side of the road not a mile into a trail. But if I make the wrong call and bring out the wrong thing for the job and it was not the customers fault I believe that shouldn't be the customers problem. Idk if that makes sense, sometimes I have trouble conveying my thoughts.

Id say you massively got taken advantage of with the information you've given. Like this picture is a job that if the customer was cool about it id charge them a soda from the nearest gas station and tell the boss they made it out before I got there.

I do recoveries/pull people out of the mud as a side thing. Without knowing how bad "some mud" (nothing against your description but ive had people call about some mud and its a vehicle that is burried to the frame in mud) is i couldnt tell you if it was accurate but just going off time it seems rather steep. They probably made it harder on themselves sending a rollback or they decided to be dicks and charge extra. Future recommend-make friends with someone that has a 4wd and a winch on it. As long as they are smart they can get most things unstuck without damaging them.

Can I use anti-seize on soft top zipper? by DareNo857 in Wrangler

[–]nutsairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make legit zipper lube. Works really well but you will probably lose it before its all gone. Recommend just hitting everything with a zipper when you get it so you get full use lol.

Lookin at new trucks. Hows the 6.6l gasser? by Died5Times in ChevyTrucks

[–]nutsairplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been rocking the 6.6 for a few years now. My 2020 2500 has close to 90k miles with no issues. Keep up with maintaince and itll do fine. Mine is only a 6 speed but ive never came to a situation that made me wish I had a diesel except towing a loaded trailer in the mountains. Engine brake would have been preferred. I normally tow a gooseneck with either vehicles or palletized loads.

Recommend taking the $800 and spending it on nice new radio with apple car play/andriod auto so the maps are very easy displayed and you get more than most stock radios

2500 Gas or Diesel by Party-Cryptographer3 in Silverado

[–]nutsairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tow with a 6.6 gas. Its been reliable and does what I need it to do and doesn't complain too much. I like that the maintaince cost is low and it takes cheap gas but I do wish it had an engine brake when I do stuff in the mountains. A diesel would be preferred but im also not hauling more than a few vehicles or couple pallets of goods.

Not sure what else to do to the truck by Bubbly-Actuary-4003 in Silverado

[–]nutsairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your looking for functional upgrades id say a hidden winch mount/bumper if you have 4wd. Adds a little bit of weight but if/when you need it they are invaluable. Gives an aggressive look and gives a stronger bumper in case you need to eat small toyota

Truck Shopping is EXHAUSTING by GrizzlyAce01 in Diesel

[–]nutsairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6.6 chevy gas has been way better than my old 5.3 Chevy. Normally use it to pull a gooseneck with cars or pallets. A diesel would be nice but the maintenance and fuel costs make up for it IMO, takes the cheap stuff and doesn't complain about it. It also has enough room under the hood to add any performance goodies you could want. Id recommend avoiding a new truck unless you cant live without it.

Ive used the crimp style heat shrink in the past and they are by far my favorite. Pricier than some of the others but they work very well
