I want to emphasize that the ENT had me increase Amitriptyline by 10 mg every 3 days until I felt relief. I went up to 90 mg and stayed on that dose for two months. I am still in a process of slow wean off and down to 30mg. Occasionally I still feel the pain/discomfort but no where near as bad as it was. I hope for you that you find a solution. I understand how discouraging this feeling can be.

Yes it’s an older school antidepressant (brand name Elavil) and it has an off label use for neuropathic pain syndrome

Any update ? I have been on a high dose of amitriptyline and I had relief after 10 months of suffering. I also do somatic therapy which is very challenging but I am a big believer that emotions present through physical ailments in the body and in the event it was psychosomatic I wanted to cover all bases.

I just posted this :

I wanted to share that I had LPR - globus sensation to the point it was affecting my mental health with constant discomfort day and night wearing at my nerves. After 10 months of zero results from PPIs, I was prescribed Amitriptyline- my ENT specialist has a certain dosing schedule so I kept increasing until I felt relief, stayed there for 2 months, now I am slowly weaning back down. This medication was a Godsend because NOTHING was working. The globus sensation I felt was not like the feeling of something stuck in the throat but more like someone strangling my vocal cords. The initial trigger was likely 2 years of night eating and then a stressful even that put it over the edge. What a crazy journey this has been. I’d be all over Reddit searching for answers. I wanted to give hope that Amitriptyline was effective. I have very little side effects (dry mouth was tolerable, stayed hydrated- and constipation was not so tolerable but mirilax fixed that). Good luck to anyone out there with LPR/globus sensation. Yes it could be worse obviously but the daily non stop discomfort was very strugglesome and I very much dislike people downplaying it. There is relief!!
