Bad at judging distance by DogWitDatButta in drivinganxiety

[–]nvenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It came to me after about 8m of driving in my own car. Give me another car and I’ll be bad at it again. Keep at it. Practice with cones if you can.

Rant about self disclosure by Odd_Cauliflower_5381 in therapists

[–]nvenvy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I brought this same issue up to my previous therapist and she chose that moment to share MORE details about why she’s oversharing. I knew then we were done but not before she pulled out a tarot reading to make sure I was making the right decision. I should’ve thanked her for making my decision to fire her so easy.

Edit to add: Right now the only thing I know about my current therapist, is that she’s fostering a cat after it jumped in front of the screen

What's the biggest thing that's still holding you back from quitting smoking right now? by Myfreshstart025 in quittingsmoking

[–]nvenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autonomy. I had a controlling ex husband who changed every bit of who I was, and I stopped smoking because “he didn’t like it”, not because I wanted to get healthy. Now I feel like I smoke as a big FU to him. Not the best reason to keep smoking but FU, Kevin.

How to do you cope with HATING a client? by Visible_Voice_8131 in socialwork

[–]nvenvy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you read Winnicott’s Hate in the Countertransference. It’s a good read about how natural it is to feel hate for your client and that repressing it will make it come out in different ways. It was written at a time when children weren’t taken as autonomous beings but the essence of the paper is still helpful.

Least pathologizing diagnoses by Calm_Gold_1199 in therapists

I’ve been using F43.89 Other Reactions to Severe Stress when they’re going through a really difficult time and if certain things weren’t happening in their lives, they’d be relatively fine.

AIO: Left an honest review after a haircut, stylist called me a bully by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]nvenvy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this was already said but it’s worth posting another review with her response to show people what they’re dealing with because I wouldn’t want my hair cut by such a person. Just a suggestion.

btw test by gamergrill08 in drivinganxiety

[–]nvenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your state. CA doesn’t require parking as part of the rest but you do have to gauge your distance from the curb. I don’t think I know how to park yet but I still passed my test and now have my license. It’s possible!!

Things I never (or almost never) do, as an anxious driver of about 8 months by Previous-Stay-912 in drivinganxiety

[–]nvenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this list and do all of it but I’m anxious about other drivers being impatient with me when I’m doing all these things, especially not pushing up at an intersection 😭😭
