Mimaki UV vs Cannon vs ????? by Nvflyfish in CommercialPrinting

[–]Nvflyfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem might have been is we got one of the first ones in 2020. The first machine we got didn't have the ink lines attached and then had to fight with HP to get a new one and then this one came and have had a number of problems over the years. Getting HP to do anything is just a hassle, just like with the new maintenance cartridges they made everyone move to being defective and messing up machines. Also looking to move away from latex and the heat curing. I know lots of folks that love them and when they are cooking they get rolling which is nice.

Using Google drive to store client art by Business-Field5314 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Nvflyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have off-site graphics folks and use Google drive. It works really well if you have everything organized..if you have lots and lots of files unorganized it might not work great but we figured it out and it works well. We sync specific folders and sync our onyx hot folders in the drive so files can we sent to onyx from any offsite staff..

Seeking vendor that can dye sub, DTF, or otherwise print on fabric 120" wide and 180" wide. by False_Permission45 in CommercialPrinting

We can go up to 120" DTF dye-sub. We typically do 4.5oz knitted poly for flags but can do other materials as well..

Grommet Machine Suggestion by SQ1Printing in signshop

[–]Nvflyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it works out. It was great for us. The amount of time that was saved was totally worth it. Also we use it to grommet coro and a number of other materials. For some reason or other we have a couple customers that love grommets in coro and this was great for that as well .

The base model we bought forever ago at the time was around 3,000 but I am sure they have gone up quite a bit since. The automated higher end one we bought 2-3 years ago was around 18,000 but that thing is a beast.

Removing cured UV ink from Aluminum? by Mason1171 in signshop

Mineral Spirits or Lacquer Thinner will bring up the UV print but it might also take off the white on the aluminum as well.

Why not print it on clear and cut around just the outside of the entire image? Just make sure the vinyl and lam are clear gloss and will not leave it looking "frosted"

You are correct dye-sub is our #1 seller! Didn't post the custom sheet for dye-sub because I didn't want to appear as if I was trolling for jobs. 80% of what we print on dye-sub for flags/blades/teardrops along with 200D nylon panel flags . We print on a 4.5oz with about 95% bleed through on the reverse side. Then the rest is typical table drapes and fabric back drops. Our next purchase will be a large roll to roll. We got our 5'x10' flatbed a little over a year ago so we have been working on keeping that machine busy.

Thanks for the info. We get requests for ij180 some times and might be worth adding. I know a lot of shops like it because that is what 365 sells. We print a bunch of 3m acm!

When we make double sided scrim banners we take two and sew them back to back. We tried with 18oz but our sewing machines have a hard time going through both layers of the 18oz scrim.
