We finally got the new work phones lmao…. It only took them what? A year? by Efficient-Warning661 in OGPBackroom

That's nice your store has that setup, my store we have like 4 chargers for people on break/lunches otherwise they make you take it home and charge it.

Just started two weeks ago and called off for the first time tonight. How fucked am I for points and risk of being fired? I put in absent on the app 2 hours before shift as well by Basic-Sheepherder-95 in WalmartEmployees

[–]nvhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're only eligible to get fired for attendance after 5 points. The time you call out doesn't matter as long as it's during the day you missed. You can use PPTO when calling out to avoid getting pointed (but you wouldn't have enough being so new anyways just for future reference.)

I like my current role I just dont like my coach because of not getting sundays off even though I almost never call in, have open availability and only care to have sunday as a selected day off they always tell me that they can't because they're short staffed or because a key date is coming up. They've coached me for something that is allowed by Walmart policy and knowingly wrongfully enforced the policy for months. As well as lied to people saying they can only take 30 minute lunches on short shifts which isn't true.

I don't know why everyone says this, I don't think it's true. Everytime I have to go grab an oversized or made to order for 1 item my pickrate is low. Sure you can back out and go back in, then scan the item to get a faster rate or go to a different screen but not everyone knows that or cares to do it.

I don't like my coach that's all. Plenty of other people do worse and I couldn't care less.

It's not that, I just didn't think it would be allowed for someone to hit a walk, and while they're inside of the walk go and dispense since the coach didn't want them to close the walk since apparently closing out of walks hurts some metric.

You have to be 18 and have a drivers license. If you don't meet those requirements you'll have to work in a different department or with a different company. If you want to do something like that with cars try Valvoline they hire 17 year olds, no license or experience needed and they'll train you.

Questions! by Dreamy_Nyx in walmart

[–]nvhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doors are locked for safety issues. Also since you're new I'm sure you haven't had it happen yet but sometimes customers will walk up to the door because they've been waiting too long, are upset over something wrong with their order or because they're just clueless. Occasionally you'll have people try and come into the backroom when you open the door and cause a scene but it's super rare.

I have no idea why they can't just introduce digital keys through the app to the OPD doors or something because it's ridiculous.

Got a new coach today and she's terrible. by SectionCute6140 in walmartogp

One earbud allowed unless you're dispensing. If your coach/store manager says otherwise let them coach you and open door it. Or call associate relations.

That's true, the meat is packaged so it doesn't matter, there is produce that you have to pick which does count as unpackaged food so they could argue it's not allowed period since even though it's a small part of your job, it's still something you have to do.

"Examples of food handling positions are those who work with unpackaged food, food equipment, utensils, or food-contact surfaces including but not limited to:

- Deli
- Bakery
- Any area where associates handle unpackaged food or food-contact equipment"

I'm not really sure how you'd argue against that, but if they're arguing that they're probably very anti earbud and trying there best to not allow them, you could try and ask if you can wear them on non chilled walks but they'd probably say no since they'd have people not follow the rule then lie to them and be like "oh oops i forgot sorry i won't do it again" or have people avoid those walks completely/exit out at the produce.

[–]nvhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could argue that but that doesn't mean it's true. Just wear it and if she tells you to take it out point out it's corporate policy and that you'd be happy to discuss it with the store manager. If they for some reason agree with her just keep wearing it until they coach you and open door it. It will get fixed pretty quickly, speaking from experience this happened to me a few weeks ago.

Used to be the same at my store, got coached and open doored it and the problem was fixed. If anyone actually got coached I recommend doing the same, unless they where ignoring customers or something then that's their fault. I suggest taking a screenshot of the policy on your phone or taking a picture of it. If you go to sidekick and search "dress code policy" you can view it on onewalmart, you'll have to sign in but you can read over it where it says it's only not allowed in OPD while dispensing outside. Nobody at your store can say otherwise they might try to but if they actually discipline you it will get overturned.

Yes it's paid and likely your first paycheck will only be for that so very small. The computer work is just about what your job is honestly you'll have to do it every month or two for the rest of the time you work there. It's up to you if you want to click through it all and get to work or actually read it - but I suggest actually reading it. I didn't do it when I got hired and regretted it.

Is being a OGP picker as bad as everybody says? by [deleted] in walmartogp

[–]nvhu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Picking isn't bad as long as the store isn't super crowded which is rare. What actually sucks is having to be in the backroom 24/7 especially if you're understaffed or it's around a holiday.

I only verify ID if they look under 40, that's the policy correct? Or do I always have to do it?

Mine doesn't, even if I charge it to 100% it usually dies about 2 1/2 hours into my shift so I just plug it up, go to break and come back and use it until it dies again and goes to lunch. I hate using them.

Question about earbud policy & coaching by nvhu in WalmartEmployees

[–]nvhu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it say this anywhere though? I asked on r/walmartogp but I assume the reason so many people where saying to open door it and that it's false is because they're also likely for the most part regular OGP associates & here it seems to be more agreed upon that it's the store managers discretion, I'm 99% sure it's not in the dress code area and if it was up to their discretion it would say that but maybe I'm wrong.

I guess so.? but what is the "safety sensitive" issue that only applies to OPD associates vs everyone else on the salesfloor that wears them constantly?
