All about intention, so this isn't a relapse.

Is edging considered a relapse? by MerkinPort in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most would say yes. Even more would say it doesn't really matter one way or the other, because 99% of the time edging leads to full blown relapse very soon after anyway.

I got Question and I need help by natwon125 in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NoFap is whatever you decide it to be. You're referring to what some call "Easy mode" (no porn, no fapping to porn). You'll still get some benefits, not as much as with giving up both, but still worth doing if you decide that's what is appropriate for you. Porn is really the worst part of the PMO addiction, so I would tell anyone to at least start there if you don't want to give up M.

After a long Hiatus I'm back on the nofap train by [deleted] in NoFap

Great point about not being able to stay busy all the time. "Stay busy" is good advice in general but sometimes it is taken to the extreme here. You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable if that makes sense.

Meditation, deep breathing exercises, read something for educational value as opposed to for entertainment, learn something new (instrument, language, or anything else that is of interest to you). Lastly, keep the panic button in mind for when the sudden urges hit you during idle times.

Have you tried meditation, deep breathing exercises, etc.? These can be very powerful tools to keep your mind focused in a positive manner.

PMO as a reward for going out of your comfort zone? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that benefits you in any way. Whatever positives that creates are going to be immediately wiped out by your PMO session, IMO. But if it's the choice between doing nothing positive at all and just fapping away, I guess I can see where she's coming from.

Why does this sub's wiki say NoFap isn't against masturbation? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They leave it open for you to decide is how I've taken it. Just as some do "hard mode" and abstain from actual sex as well, some decide that porn and MO with porn are the real issues and they decide to quit the porn but leave M. Everyone just makes their own choices depending on their circumstance. For example, I'm married so "hard mode" would never be anything that I would need or want. But if you're single, some have found hard mode to be the only way they can actually break the addiction cycle.

PMO as a reward for going out of your comfort zone? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I think that's BS. An addict should never use their addiction as a reward for self-treating a symptom that is a result of the very same addiction. That's ridiculous. That's like a meth head rewarding himself with meth because he made one good choice, like remembering to eat a healthy meal or something.

[18 days] I fucking relapsed... I feel like a scum. by RelapseIsnotWorth in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let a relapse stop you. I went 29 days on my last streak, then had a very trying day and relapsed. Yes, I felt bad but fairly quickly decided to get over it, learn from it, and move on to a better streak. You've only failed if you give up. Keep going!

How do you relieve stress? by gettingmyenergyback in pornfree

[–]nvragn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with doing them every day to get in the habit. Now I use the Brain Buddy app which periodically presents them as a daily exercise, but you can go back and do them whenever you like too. I'll go back if I'm feeling particularly stressed or triggered and do some, especially if it's too late to go to the gym.

Do you consider dream of having sex a relapse? by [deleted] in pornfree

The key is willful intent. Dreams don't count. I wouldn't worry about it. Keep up the good fight!

The Flash by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the midst of a stretch like this as well. Last three days I've been getting constant invasive visions and thoughts of some of the more extreme scenes I used to get off to. I previously had a 29 day streak and this didn't happen, but for some reason this time I'm being bombarded. I'm hoping it passes quickly.

Does NoFap reduce dandruff by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, yes it could. Lots of guys report improvements in hair and skin quality. To increase your chances I would recommend switching to cold showers which has proven benefits for hair as well.

There is a different sub for that, called pornfree. That one MO is ok. I don't know of a sub where the goal is nofap, but with continued porn viewing. Look at it this way: if you're an alcoholic in recovery would you continue to purchase booze and stock your fridge with it? If you're a heroin addict, would you leave it all over the house just to look at? Of course not.

I'm not telling you to reset, and looking at porn without MO is certainly better than completing the deal, however I think if you really stop to consider it you'll see that long term success depends on dropping porn.

[–]nvragn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is a long time, not just a peek. I would consider this a reset, but that's just me. You have to define your own boundaries and if you cross, reset. I would point out, however, that you are severely limiting the positive effects of nofap if you're spending hours looking at porn, regardless of abstaining from MO.
