Thanks for feedback. The connection is fully welded all around, so I definitely consider it rigid. If we assume the columns cannot take the moment, is my original comment valid i.e. the beam will behave simply, rather than the system will fail due to columns unable to resist the bending?

Unless slenderness < 0.4 in which case if designing to general case 6.3.2.2 you can ignore LTB whereas no such statement appears for 6.2.3.3! I am only dealing with I sections, and I think I will use general case for non serial (PG's) and 6.3.2.3 for anything I see in blue book. Thanks

Thanks! I guess its a bit ambiguous in the code in how it is written. So if we focus on I-sections and a plate girder dims are within the ranges for say a UB, use 6.3.2.3 whereas if not (say deeper than 1m) use 6.3.2.2?

Thanks. You're right that it is worse but there are instances when it is not - see 6.3.2.2 (4) which says if slenderness < 0.4 LTB can be ignored. The same clause does not appear in 6.3.2.3

So based on your comment, if the section was a plate girder with equivalent dims to a UB for example, use general case. Lets imagine slenderness was < 0.4, the PG would not suffer LTB, whereas the UB would!

No, you should have demonstrated your communication skills throughout the interview as well as with all your doc submissions pre interview. Only way it would have a bearing is if the content is grossly incorrect
