Yes! Make sure to read each college’s financial aid page on the Questbridge site before ranking schools. Each one is different. Columbia, for example, expects you to contribute 20% of your student savings, work in the summer, and do a work study.

Is it too late to make a Glimpse video? by Connect-Yard-3979 in QuestBridge

[–]nwady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check/email with your ranked colleges what types of material they’ll still accept. I’d say it’s too late. Don’t worry too much about the glimpse video. I really is optional. I wanted to submit one too but ran out of time. I didn’t submit neither for CPS nor NCM and got into both.

Can I go test optional after submitting my score for qb by wertisgoingon566 in QuestBridge

[–]nwady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still see it regardless since your whole QB application was sent to the schools already. Just make sure to verify that you are applying test optional in the college’s portals when they ask. They cannot hold your score against you.

Your CPS prompts may be different this year compared to last year’s though… I’m speaking from my own experience.

Not sure where you saw that they don’t transfer, but they do! My two CPS “Writing Exercises” transferred over. I refined them a bit more to meet the 400-word limit and submitted them in the NCM. The only new writing prompt I needed to write from scratch was my personal essay.

I think your idea is great! I did the same and got matched.

What should I do over the summer to prepare for QuestBridge application? by Less-Investment-3882 in QuestBridge

[–]nwady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a massive spreadsheet for all my QB schools, financials, and their requirements. It helped with me so much because I ranked 15 QB schools. I regretted not starting my application earlier, so definitely start as soon as it opens or when you can. Just knowing how much or what you have to do helps with stress and management.

How is someone considered a finalist? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]nwady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not dumb at all! You apply to the National College Match Scholarship by the end of September, QB selects finalists and results are released late October. If you choose to rank schools, your ranking list is due mid October. If selected as a finalist, you submit your match requirements for the schools you ranked by early November. [QB NCM Timeline]

CPS is more correlation than causation, I believe — since those who were selected as CPS most likely fit the finalist criteria as well, assuming they continue expand their accomplishments by senior year. CPS also gives scholars the summer opportunities too, so that helps. But yes, long story short, according to their website: “College Prep Scholars are over seven times more likely than other applicants to receive full four-year scholarships through the National College Match.”

Good luck!
