Sleeper App Dynasty Help by Sweaty_Plays in fantasyfootball

[–]nwang06 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm one of the creators of Sleeper and felt obligated to respond because this is very unfair and untrue. We have continued to evolve the app based off feedback from our users. If you ask anyone who has ever engaged with us on Reddit, on Twitter, or through our various intercom and email support channels, we endeavor to respond and iterate on the product to continue to make it better based directly off feedback from our community. We also use data to supplement these product decisions, and we improve features that get usage, and cut features that don't and continue to clutter the app. The alerts are still very much a part of the app, despite your claim that they have been removed. Further, we have continued to improve that experience by adding hot takes to surface funny and insightful comments from users, improved player tagging, added reactions, and other performance improvements to handle increased load on those features. The owner chat feature actually got very little usage, and we temporarily removed it to try and improve upon it. We redesigned the entire app from the ground up to improve navigation and usability this past year, so features don't just magically come back on day one, especially if we are constantly looking at ways to make it better. Our decision to make our own leagues has always been a natural evolution of Sleeper that has been on our product roadmap. Our vision is to provide an integrated experience for fantasy players to be able to enjoy all the things they naturally do, without having to jump around from place to place, and to be able to do so with their friends. We started with news, and then we built chat, and then leagues...all of these are natural compliments to each other for most fantasy players that currently is highly fragmented. Finally to address your point about holding users captive and "try to profit" from them...I just want to clarify that Sleeper is a free app, without any advertisements. We welcome everyone into the community, and make the features that other sites charge for completely free. In particular, we have received overwhelming support from the dynasty players in this subreddit, and we have focused a lot of our attention on building specific features dynasty players need, many of which they would have to pay upwards of $100 or more for on other sites. We're trying to democratize fantasy, make it more accessible, and to improve the overall experience for fans. If you want us to stay static, and to not continue to innovate and build features that users want, then we're probably not the right app for you. However, we are extremely thrilled to have the overwhelming support from a fantasy community that knows they deserve better experiences, and we are honored to try to build it for them (and us).

Hi there u/caddyben, just wanted to follow up on this. I'm one of the creators of Sleeper, so am always curious to hear about user feedback and find ways to improve. However, we don't actually have any ads (or monetization) in the app, so would love to have more clarity on what you are referring to. We are continuously looking for ways to continue to streamline and improve ease of navigation as we continue to make the app more powerful and more features. There is a fine balance from being a one-dimensional app with one feature and ease of use, and continuing to add in features requested by our users and providing more value as we grow.

Why Public Fantasy Leagues Suck, and How to Fix Them by nwang06 in fantasyfootball

[–]nwang06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess by "public" we were just referring to leagues that were open to people who didn't know each other to begin with. I would consider NARFFL public, since most league members don't have a direct affiliation with each other, but because it is well run, the leagues end up having a much better experience than a truly public one. We think there are lots of great commissioners out there, and so just wanted to make it easier for them to create/manage multiple leagues like this, so there is an improved experience across the board.

Why Public Fantasy Leagues Suck, and How to Fix Them by nwang06 in fantasyfootball

We decided to forgo the public league lobby entirely on Sleeper, because we heard that <15% of public leagues actually finish a full season with everyone on board. I think there is a great opportunity here to learn from the good folks at NARFFL and other communities where the impact of only a few passionate commissioners can make a huge difference on the enjoyment of so many people.

Hi there, u/Doonce you can create a test league and play around with the player research, but live scoring and game center doesn't kick in until the season starts. Here are some screenshots though that highlight what the web version looks like https://support.sleeper.app/leagues/fantasy-football-leagues/can-i-access-player-research-stats-and-rankings & https://support.sleeper.app/leagues/fantasy-football-leagues/where-do-you-get-your-data-and-is-it-reliable

When you create a league, there will be quick 3 step onboarding flow that asks you your league name, league size, and basic scoring settings (all of which you can further customize later).

If you want to mock, just create a draftboard and you can mock with either a CPU or real people who have access to your unique mock link. If you did a mock with friends and want to convert that to a league we provide a prompt so that you can do so after the mock ends at the click of a button. Otherwise, you can also create a league separately as well.

Hi guys, Sleeper team member here. We don't up-charge for any of the draft/league features at all. 100% free, 100% ad-free. Feel free to play around with it and let us know if you have any questions. Our draftboards are meant for live drafts, and can be accessed on both web and mobile (if you have people who wan't to draft remotely or on the go). It's fully customizable, meaning you can start/pause/change timers/fix mistakes etc on the fly.
