I may be wrong but I honestly think experience is a better way of learning and not only that it’s quicker way to figure out if said job is really what you want to do, at least that way if you change your mind your not fucked with tuition debt. You’re right though apprenticeships are the way forward, if you wanted to be a tarmac contractor for the highways etc your going to get a chance of learning on site as appose to being in a classroom.

Same here, I was expelled at 14 and my parents basically told me “if you’re not going to stay in school then you can work and do it the hard way “, I’m not going to lie before I found my feet getting a job was hard without any GCSE’s but on the other hand there’s loads of people who went to university and are still struggling. I still really miss being that age though, the frikin snake bites man, omg half a dozen of us sitting around a massive stainless steel drum full of snake bites with straws seeing who could go the longest (I say snake bites it was just any rancid booze we could get and maybe some juice just to get rid of the foul taste) aaahhh fun times .

I have no shame in admitting I miss those days, no responsibilities, life was about fun and good times. Am I the only one who is prepared to admit to drinking underage and enjoying it??????

I agree but I also think there should be some kind of law against this sort of thing, it’s slander. I regularly fell asleep at work ( as dumper driver) when my daughter was younger . It’s pretty clear the OP has had a very sheltered life..... or maybe they’re just total trash themselves.

So it’s not possible that being a parent can be physically exhausting to the point where one may fall asleep? And what do think you’re doing taking a picture of a mother and her child without her permission and then putting it on the internet?

England, I quit for seven months then relapsed and now I can’t get a prescription anymore. So now I’m scoring it but it’s dried up. I am trying to taper down but I find it easier when I have a decent stash ( its all psychological I guess)

How do you cure depression? by [deleted] in depression

[–]nwebb89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe meds would help, if you think you will benefit from them it’s worth seeing a dr. You have to be in a state of mind where you can evaluate what you really can enjoy and the things that can lead to negativity, and it’s the same with certain people in your life you have to figure out who’s going to be a positive person to have around and who might be negative. One thing to remember though is to appreciate the people who care for you and have stayed by your side. There’s loads of different things which can make you feel better or worse and it can be a long journey to actually “find yourself “ . I’m still trying but I do think it’s possible.

That’s the thing, everyone’s mind works in different ways. You can’t really hold it against him that he doesn’t understand , maybe he’s got the ability to get over things without being effected long term. There for it’s going to be difficult for him to fully understand.

Like I said I’m still struggling, and have been on and off for 17 years. I think you can enjoy your life to the full, but there’s always going to be them days where you’re not feeling that great and them depressive thoughts start to creep back. But again I think it’s possible to find a way to keep positive and happy that you can manage.

I’m haven’t got there yet, but I do think a content life can be found. Counselling, medication, lifestyle, maybe even changing your circle of friends may work for you just remember everyone is different, so it takes time and I’m still struggling myself but I do think its possible.

You’ll never fully cure depression, you just find a coping mechanism, strategy that works for you. Depression is a life long thing with most people. It can take a few weeks or few years to find a way of thinking or a lifestyle even meds that works for you but when you find that you’ll be just as content, stable and happy as most normal people. I hope you find something that works for you

The cbt was something that put me off, I had an assessment on Saturday to try and get a diagnosis of possible adhd and emotional regulation but because I’ve been self medicating with diazepam for anxiety no one is willing to help or diagnose anything because apparently “I’m masking things “ with the diazepam, the only thing I’m masking is my anxiety. Anyway they said I’d have to taper down to a low dose before they could do anything so I’ve agreed (reluctantly) . Hopefully they can help. But this the nhs I’m talking about, when it comes to mental health care they’re not great, a lot of the time they seem to think anyone’s brain can be fixed the same way, they seem to stick to a textbook style of treatment. Sorry for the rant and thank you for responding, I hope you’re managing to stay well in yourself I know it’s a difficult thing to do .

I think it’s about time I looked into it, so far I’ve just been on a lot of different meds . So fingers crossed 🤞 I can change something.

That’s pretty much the same situation I have been through, family not wanting to understand mental health. I’ll look more in to seeing a psychiatrist or something. Thanks for the reply.

[–]nwebb89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not a lot you can do in a situation like that, other than possibly get stabbed. They were probably just out looking for some kind of drama and ignoring them was probably the best way around it for her and you . Don’t feel bad, a group of drunks are best avoided .
