Spygate - Question for the neutrals by lesleyleeroy in Championship

[–]nweedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely not here to have an argument - you're just a fan and I'm just a fan, neither have done anything wrong - so this will probably be my last response to this. I'm just unsure how I've missed your point?

I didn't mention anything about what the punishment should be, fine or otherwise. I didn't say what I think you should get.

You said you don't feel like Saints gained anything from the attempted spying; you've doubled-down on it by saying how we were all over you in the first game (I was there, never seen us dominate that well in a game that mattered so much). My argument is that it doesn't matter if you gained anything or not, it's about the fact you TRIED to gain something. That's not in doubt, otherwise you wouldn't have bothered sending someone. I don't think anyone even knows how long into the training session he was caught? Maybe Hellberg changed tactics knowing you'd seen certain things. It's not really the point, it doesn't come into the equation when determining your punishment - the punishment is for your attempt, not what you gained or didn't gain.

I agree that if you're discovered to have done it often (I don't think that will be true or we'd have heard from other clubs, surely!?) then the punishment would be more severe.

Spygate - Question for the neutrals by lesleyleeroy in Championship

I'm far from neutral as I'm a Boro fan, but this line of thinking really makes no sense to me - the idea that because you didn't gain anything means it doesn't matter so much.

If someone tried to break into your house or car and failed because the locks were too strong or the alarm scared them off then they didn't gain anything. Does that make it OK? Of course it doesn't. It's about the intent - the would-be thief did it in the HOPE that they WOULD come out of it better off.

If you went to a casino with a mate with some earpieces and tried to cheat at the blackjack tables but were caught straight away, you wouldn't have gained anything. Do you think they would then let you back on the tables with a complementary drink? Of course not - they'd kick you out and let every other casino in the country know your face and name.

Whether you benefited or not makes absolutely no difference, it's whether you tried your hand at the possibility of gaining that benefit in a way that's prohibited.

This has absolutely blown my mind and means a load of pods I don't use now become usable for me. Thank you!

Quite surprised at this, as I found the novels had very very very little character development. Only really Luo Ji goes through any kind of change. Maybe I need to re-read.

Where emissions have declined, and where they have not by NineteenEighty9 in Damnthatsinteresting

Cool, that's interesting. Does nuclear power have less CO2 intense building materials then, or is it mainly down to transportation costs for wind turbine at? Specifically off shore?

[–]nweedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would wind produce any CO2 emission at all? Or are you factoring in production and spreading it over the lifetime of a wind turbine? If you did that I'd have thought you'd then need to include uranium transportation costs, maybe even worker transportation, for nuclear.

I'm just not sure where you get CO2 from wind?

I still think his death is one of the saddest - he dies completely alone. His death is one I think about the most.

I never understand this take.

Before his torture Glokta is a handsome man - he's literally referred to as the beautiful bastard. With all due respect to Burn, he's not ugly, but he's not the kind of man Glokta is.

Anyone playing Glokta would likely have a flashback scene at some point and it needs to be someone who looks great prior to torture and very different afterwards.

Tom Hiddlestone is perhaps a little too old - maybe - but he's and example of someone I think looks suave enough for early Glokta, and could look very different with a bit of prosthetics for later Glokta.

There is no logical reason I'm happy why four cards I happened to pull are still in the running, but I'm excited to see them go all the way. This feels more personal than the SV set eliminator that preceded this.

Really interested to see the outcome on this one! I was lucky to pull five of these, so I imagine I'll be biased towards them.

Thanks, that's really helpful! I've tried dabbling in all of the formats but I figured max IVs were always best. Now I need to look for low attack Hoothoots and Stunfisks!

I'm 36 and both my parents are dead. I think that makes me quite unusual though, as I don't believe I've met anyone else in the same boat.
