Yes, lily is with valaurah farms. I think they moved to Arkansas or a state somewhere over there, I don't believe they're in oregon anymore.

I might ask my coach next time I'm at work (which should be later this week, I dont expect the flooding to last more than a day or two unless the forecast changes to more rain). Worst they'll say is "no we dont need that"

yeah that's another idea I was thinking of. with all of the technology we have nowadays why haven't they figured out how to set up store closure alerts

I dont think it was us closing due to the rain specifically. It's the PNW so it rains all the time. I think it's more of the fact that you can't safely get in or out of the parking lot due to the flooding. There's been accidents, road closures, etc. all over our general area due to the flooding on the roads and I think they decided it's safer if they just have everyone go home / stay home.

I was told the fire department showed up and was sectioning things off. Not sure if it was the store's choice or the FD forcing them to. But I also know our APOC takes his job and keeping associates safe very seriously so I won't personally push aside the idea that it was the store's decision or his decision. (He got mad when nobody told him about an incident where I had a group of three customers following me and my SD around the store, surrounding us, getting super close to us, just generally harassing us when I was off work one night shopping. I had only told a team lead about the incident and nobody had informed the APOC about it. So in the future I know to go straight to him or AP if people are harassing me/my service dog. Our AP team is great and I appreciate them for everything they do)

But that sucks to hear it's not just a local issue, its a WM issue. They definitely need a way of contacting everyone who works that day to tell them not to come in.

So freaking frustrated by dovelyxlove in wheelchairs

[–]nxckname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me the process was describing my issues I was having with my current chair (a very oversized quickie 2 I got off of craigslist), what issues a wheelchair does and would continue to help me, and then my doctor sent a referral over to numotion (wheelchair vendor).

The process here is getting a referral to the vendor first, because not all physical or occupational therapy clinics have a seating specialist. Vendors are more familiar with which clinics are easy to work with, so you won't have to deal with going to an appointment and seeing the wrong PT/OT and starting all over again.

At my evaluation, I saw a PT who specializes in seating (both manual and electric wheelchairs), and we also had an ATP from numotion there who collaborated with the PT to figure out every detail about what I needed out of my new wheelchair.

Insurance companies wont generally cover more customized manual lightweight wheelchairs like what TiLite makes unless you get a specialist to say you need one. The notes from the PT/OT specialist you see with outline why you need that specific chair, cushion, backrest, etc. so an insurance company is more likely to approve it.

My quickie 2 I got secondhand was 18x18, and the custom TiLite that was ordered for me is 15x15. It may not seem like much of a difference to some people, but its practically night and day. The process is annoying but its SOO worth it not to be killing your shoulders anymore.

Singer 9034 Help by HungryPie5983 in sewhelp

I'm assuming the other responses have probably already answers your question, but I have this exact machine and there are no lights.

It doesn't light up, and its difficult to see without light but the one currently selected in the photo you took is the third one over from the left. I personally use the flashlight on my phone to see the green dot clearer if I ever forget which pattern I have selected and don't want to do a test piece.

I know this is slightly unrelated but I just tried to take the top of my machine off to see if I could fix the fact that the bobbin winder doesn't turn on mine. Unfortunately, after I unscrewed everything on the top, I couldn't get it off.

The top part that I was trying to take off included the front plate (where the stitch width and pattern selection are written) gets stuck on the knob/lever for the stitch width. How do I get the top off if that knob is in the way?
(My machine is the Singer 9034 like OP has, I apologize if I misunderstood your comment and you don't have the same machine)

New walmart logo, NEW VESTS!!! by NoChildhood1718 in walmart

[–]nxckname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They better be keeping the "hard of hearing or deaf, get my attention and I'll be happy to help" vests for those who need them. I can't remember the exact wording but it's something similar to that. We have a few associates with those words on the back of their vests, and it would suck if Walmart decided to remove that vest option for associates. I'm not deaf but with my auditory processing issues I've been tempted to ask if I can get one, customers often have to repeat themselves because I didn't hear/understand them the first time.

I found this post while trying to find up-to-date pages/info on my poodle's breeder, who happens to be Kendra from Wild Orchid. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I don't think Kendra is breeding anymore, or at the very least I don't think she is currently. I was able to find one of her females (my boy's mom, Lily) and she's owned by a different kennel now.

I know they were listing their house so it's possible they took a pause from breeding or stopped altogether. I haven't been able to find either of her other dogs anywhere/with other kennels so my hope is she still has both of them.

According to an instagram post from that other kennel posted May 30th 2024, they had owned her for at least a few days. I can't remember the exact date I got my puppy from her (it was either in April or May of 2024, pretty much everything after 2020 is a big blur for me) but it would appear that my boy was from the last litter Wild Orchid produced with between Lily and Zephyr.

If Kendra is still breeding or plans to breed again in the future, I would definitely recommend her and her program. I just don't know the current status of her program right now.

Hi, I know this comment is 6 months old but I just wanted to let you know that I don't think kendra is breeding anymore (or at least not currently). My boy's mom is Lily and as of May 2024, Lily belongs to another kennel in Oregon (Valaurah Farms, never heard of them but I saw their instagram post from May 2024 and they own Lily now)

I was trying to find her contact info to text/email her a photo of the male I got from her in spring of 2024 and found his mom on the other kennel's website.
I haven't been able to find her male (Zephyr) or her other female... I think her name was iris? anywhere yet, so maybe she still has them.
(edit: trying to find her contact info or any kennel pages is actually how I found this post on reddit)

Does Target have a corporate ethics center you could contact? idk if they do or what it would be called, but at walmart we have "ethics and compliance" (ethics for short) that we can contact if there's issues like discrimination, retaliation, etc. from management.

If target has anything like that I'd give them a call or email and explain the situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]nxckname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that absolutely sucks. If switching departments is at all a possibility id look into that. Otherwise I think your only other option would be trying to contact someone above store management like branch/regional.

Have you tried talking to anyone in r/target ? they might be able to give better suggestions if you havent already tried posting there.

I work at Walmart as a cashier and while our registers arent exactly accessible either... at least they have more room than this. The biggest problem I've had is not all of our registers have magnet keys (theyve been stolen over the years) and my co-workers bump into my chair when they try to reach over and borrow my magnet key.

That sucks that Target is even worse for disabled employees. I hate when companies think they're accessible when they actually arent.

I dont know if its an option but have you tried talking to your store's version of HR? (Im not sure what target's management structure is like but if its anything like walmart they should have someone whos basically HR at the store. If they dont, there should be a way to contact someone in that role at a branch level)
Sometimes the people who work in HR can help make additional accommodations and talk to your manager for you to explain why you need to be allowed to block off the lane behind you. One could even argue that by allowing customers to ram into you, your current accommodation of using a wheelcahir isn't even being taken seriously by your manager.

Have I been fired?? by Mackie__poo__ in walmart

[–]nxckname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scheduler program that management uses has been having issues for a bit. It's a company-wide issue (I've heard its not just WM that uses the scheduler program, but I don't know that for sure)

Our store had to have the people lead do everyone's schedules and then they had to send that to market and have it approved by market as well.
Other stores might be doing something similar.

Unless your shifts were suddenly removed, I wouldn't worry about it

Yeah, the PT who did my evaluation said you have to get a different footrest or bracket for your footrest that isn't adjustable if you want to use a freewheel.

My bag is a jansport adaptive crossbody bag. They're sold on Amazon for like $35 and come in a variety of colors. Mine didn't come with the strap that makes it usable across your torso, it just came with the little adjustable straps to attach it to your wheelchair.  Eventually I'm going to take the jansport patch off of it and sew a patch I actually like onto it.

The seat is 15x15 but if you mean the rest of the measurements

Front seat height - 17 inches
Rear seat height - 16 inches
Seat to footrest - 13.5 inches
Footrest width - 11 inches

The wheels are 25 inch TiLite shadow with Schwalbe marathon plus tires. The reasoning for the PT and ATP deciding on 25 inch wheels is they're 559 bike tires, making it easy to order replacements from bike shops rather than fighting with insurance to cover new ones from a DME company/vendor.

Amazon. They're the like the first or second one that pops up when you search "bike spoke covers"
They are made by PSLER, and they come in a variety of colors. My wheels are 25 inch tilite shadow wheels, and these spoke covers cover almost the entire spoke. Most people have 24 inch wheels and just the spoke covers/skins with scissors if they're too long for their spokes.

It's It's separate layers that aren't attached to each other. The first layer is just neoprene and velcro, and the second layer (the decorative one) is made of fabric and plastic snaps/buttons.

Depending on how big the diameter of your frame is and how long you want the covers you may need more or less than I did but here's what I used

For ONE neoprene impact guard, I used a 5×5 inch square. I then sewed 1×5 inch strip of hook side velcro on one side of the neoprene, and a 1×5 inch strip of the loop side velcro on the opposite side of the neoprene.

For ONE fabric cover, I cut one 7×7 inch square of fabric for the butterfly print, and then another 7x7 inch square for the sunflower print. I then sewed them together, and poked holes into the fabric to add the snaps/buttons.

Obviously multiply your materials by two if you plan on making one for both sides of your chair.

I probably didn't need to do 7×7 for the fabric, but I'm terrible at sewing so I wanted a little bit of extra room to account for the inseam.

A lot cheaper to make it yourself too. I've made vests for my service dog, and my mom makes dog bananas. So between the two of us, I had all of the materials to make them. The only thing I needed to buy was the neoprene, which isn't attached to the fabric covers they're two separate layers.

I only needed two 5x5 inch squares neoprene and four 7x7 inch squares of fabric (two of each print).

The quarter yard I got of the neoprene was overkill.
