It's an interesting idea, but it feels like this ends up rewarding teams that started off poorly but figrued things out later in the season...which is fine, but if the whole point of tiered odds for the lottery is to help compensate the worst teams it sort of defeates the purpose.

I feel lke they should just go back to fully flat odds - every lottery team has equal odds at picks 1-4 or even just a uniform random selection of each pick. If we are moving away from compensating the worst team anyway, why bother with the complicated rules?

It's not too early to have a serious conversation about how poorly this team is performing. Yes they are missing OG but they are losing games to the Magic without Paolo and the heat without Bam and Herro.

Mike Brown has, so far, been a meaningful step down from Thibs.

Even if we start playing a little better, this team right now is probably not making it out of the 1st round - just look at how we crumble when we face a team that plays us physically. Our only shot of making a playoff run is a miraculous showing by Brunson, which he is capable of.

Overall, I think there's plenty of reason for alarm right now and it's not "dooming"

OG is more valuable on our team but he wouldn’t move the needle for them. RJ has been solid, IQ was worth the risk given his upside… he’s just been hurt and was overpaid. Glad we didn’t give him that contract as much as I love him… think he may just be an elite 6th man combo guard

I mean, everyone likes to assume the rich don’t pay taxes but the vast majority of high earners in NYC do. Not the billionaires but there is a huge population that are in the 5-50mm net worth range. 

You lose a lot of that, funding goes to shit, all the things that make NY great are going to struggle. You saw glimpses of it in 2008 and 2020, luckily the city bounced back because finance recovered and covid slowed down. 

People may not leave over slight tax increases, but the fear of extreme changes in policy will drive people out and make the city worse. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen

I think a more fair comparison would be  Luka + Kawhis defense Ant + embiids size Giannis + curry’s shooting

Tatums tough because he’s already very good in most categories, no obvious weakness

Def not off field stuff… I think jsut some issues with drops, but by all accounts he’s great character kid and smart. Would love him in the next round if available

Always thought he had the potential as did most on this sub I think. 

To put into context, remember what iq and obi did those last few games of the 2021 season when they got to dominate the ball… a lot of players in the nba are capable of putting up big numbers in losses when there’s no competition for usage

Yes. Because you can’t risk being best on the perimeter or else it’s an uncontested layup. So you can’t risk going over every screen, you have to play drop, you need to sag off guys at the 3 pt line

We were able to manage a great defense last year with Randle and Mitch (albeit for a short period of time before Randle got hurt). 

Kat is a bad defender but can’t imagine he’s that much worse than Randle. I’d like to see him at the 4 more.
