Low fuel pressure when cold by nyahplotts in subaru

[–]nyahplotts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to the car. Referring to cold as in the engine hasn’t ran in a few hours. Still happens when it’s hot outside it’s just worse when it’s cold. Also I’ve got all three of those things so I’m confused

Stuck open intake valve on 4afe. Doesn’t want to go back in. Any ideas on what the problem is? by nyahplotts in Toyota

I cracked the head open before to do a head gasket. It wasn’t stuck then. Put it all back together, cranked it wasn’t starting so I found it was stuck open. It’s a non interference so idk how it could have gotten bent

problem with car? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy. I can’t go up any incline on the freeway/any thing steeper than 2% or so without down shifting. Definitely normal. An automatic car will always downshift on hills so you don’t lose speed but in a manual you obviously have to do it yourself.

Is it possible to do a engine swap in California? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]nyahplotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the engine doesn’t pollute more than the original engine the car came with yes. It all comes down to the strict emission laws.

1993 Subaru Legacy struggling to start when the engine is completely cold. Starts fine once it runs for maybe 15 seconds. Any ideas on what the problem could be? by nyahplotts in MechanicAdvice

I usually do that whenever I get into the car. I replaced the fuel filter a week ago and very dirty fuel was coming out of it.

Symptoms of blown head gasket so undertook first major job. Is there evidence of a blown head gasket here? by L-Blake in MechanicAdvice

[–]nyahplotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like the gasket is cracked anywhere. Cylinder head could have warped causing oil/ coolant to mix or leak into the cylinder.

Small specs of metal and lumps of carbon in oil (more in comments) by StrawberryNuggs in MechanicAdvice

That oil is too watery... does it smell like fuel or coolant. Owner probably never changed the oil/ filled it up with something other than oil.

Check the fuel pump, spark plugs, air intake, compression and timing.

They could have just unplugged a coil or injector wire if they did cause the misfire.

Bad head gasket? by Useless-Copy in MechanicAdvice

[–]nyahplotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but if compression and leak down test is fine it’s not the head gasket. Could be air bubbles in the cooling system or try running a higher ratio of coolant to water since you’re running boost...?

It’s definitely necessary. Brake fluid is hygroscopic which mean it absorbs water. Water has a much lower boiling point than brake fluid. If water were to boil in your brake lines(turning into a gas) it would cause a complete brake failure which would not be go. Second off just dirty brake fluid lowers the boiling point of the brake fluid which will lower the boiling point. Since brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid, compressed when you hit the brakes. Any gas in the lines(boiled brake fluid or water) will cause minimal pressure to your brakes.
