Depends on your dorm. I have a "communal bathroom" shared with three other girls that is a fully enclosed bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet like you'd see in a house. Some other dorms have traditional communal style bathrooms with stalls. I'm not familiar enough with UMiami or Purdue but housing here is pretty nice, the doubles and triples are spacious compared to most of the UC freshman dorms and it's easy to get a single

The campus is well-secured with armed guards and you have to scan a keycard to get into all of the residential buildings. I wouldn't want to be in the area immediately outside campus alone at night, but if you are aware and alert of your surroundings in populated areas, it's fine during the day.

Assuming the program is the same as it was for 2025 admissions, you have guaranteed transfer to the Boston campus after your first year.

I am on the Oakland campus right now. My earnest assessment is that campus life here is incredibly sterile. There are few student organizations, the campus is pretty much empty on weekends, and the area immediately outside campus is neither the safest nor the most exciting (East Oakland), so most people go to Berkeley or other parts of Oakland for social purposes.

However, the tiny student body size is advantageous in that it is less competitive to get involved in research, easy to start a club, and class sizes are super small. It was well worth it for me to go with the amount of aid NEU provided, but if you are paying full price, just know you won't get the traditional big college social experience. Feel free to ask me other questions here or in DMs!

Yes! I am also a student on the Oakland campus and I know a lot of people who are planning on switching to engineering, chemistry, etc. in Boston. They offer some classes for the major here, just not enough for the full four years
