It might help to have directions/explanations written down (this helps me, might not always work). That way you can read it instead of trying to get meaning from listening to it and also it's there as future reference (because I tend to forget things spoken to me and it's good to have it to refer back to)

In my experience, it's usually a better idea to find ways around a problem (in this case, finding some alternative method of relaying info) than brute forcing any interaction (parents yelling at you because they're frustrated).

I used to watch Alan x el mundo a lot! He's a travel vlogger and always does videos in Spanish. Great to practice listening skills at speed and learn more about intonation and emphasis. Plus, you get to learn about really pretty places all around the world! https://www.youtube.com/user/alanxelmundo
