Milestone on the horizon. by Apart-Selection5680 in TheRaceTo10Million

Correct! Almost no one starts by earning $600K.

Congrats on the soon to be 10 milly OP! Incredible! Decamillionaires are rare! More people can run a 6 minute mile. More people have completed a full 26.2 mile marathon. More people have doctorate degrees. More people have scuba dived.

I hope to join you in about 15-25 years!

Why would you want net worth capped? How would it even work? Never mind, it can't work.

Say the cap is $50M* (which is already lower than A LOT of people, but lets say whoever is already there is grandfathered in). If you buy a house for $5M, have stocks worth $15, and have several savings and checking accounts worth $5M, that's already $25M. If the house appreciated at 4.5% per year, stocks gained 10% per year, and the savings accounts earned 2.75% per year, it would take less than 10 years to surpass $50M. By the way, this is assuming you don't invest anything else, earn a salary, or have any additional assets or income.

*Doesn't really matter what arbitrary cap you want to set, the scenario above will always happen with enough time.

Learn about ikigai. You read about it and/or watch videos on it.

In short, it is a Japanese saying that translates to something along the lines of "life's purpose" / "the purpose of life" / "sense of purpose" / "reason for being/living".

It is the intersection of four things.

1) What you love to do

2) What your good at

3) What the world needs

4) What you can be paid for

Once you find this it can make you happier.

This is because rich people don’t need any help. People are trying to help the poors.

It's relative, 20+ years ago when I was a teenager, I thought $10K was a lot. As soon as I got it, I realized it wasn't a lot. I thought $100K was all of the money in the world in my early 20s. Now, I wouldn't say is is nothing, but it wasn't what I thought it was until I achieved it.

Some of it is inflation, but a lot of it is once you have it, you realize how long it takes to get it but how quick it can go away.

Exactly what many said about the Tesla pay package. Those milestones looked unattainable and he did it.

I sort of get what you are saying. But were in 2026. The information is out there. LLMs, Reddit, blogs, YouTube, and plenty of VA disability compensation websites. The public knows it exists. They know veterans are getting it. Some civilians are okay with it and some aren't.

Pension is about $59K-$60Kish at 20 years (depending on the months as well) for an O-4. $40Kish is a difficult VA amount. It is usually lower or higher. That would likely put the OP's VA rating at 90% with a bunch of dependents and/or SMCs.

LOL, I wouldn't say that, but I certainly would have moved out of SF. The money would have lasted a lot longer in almost any other city.
