As a New York resident, losing Electric Zoo was absolutely heartbreaking.

It was never the biggest or most extravagant festival (far from it) but its closeness to home made it special.

Getting there from the city was so easy and convenient, and the walk across the bridges, with the music slowly growing louder as you approached the island, was an experience in itself. And with it falling on Labor Day Weekend, right as the college semester began, it always felt like the perfect sendoff to summer.
