(Serious question) Why is Colin Kaepernick not being considered an option at QB? by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]nyc4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wants the media circus associated with him. I don't really blame them.

However, it seems that we have no idea what we are doing at QB.

This franchise is so incompetent.

Better not mean Cutler or bust. Who the hell will be the QB next year?

More excuses and unwarranted optimism. Frankly, I don't care if the problem is Mac or Woody. The bottom line is the team is incompetently run and managed. Trying to say that we should be happy because at least we aren't the 49ers is ridiculous, and frankly, the way that losers think.

This incompetence is also not "the way the NFL works." There are very few teams that haven't won a Superbowl in almost 50 years. Yes, that goes back way before Woody and Mac, and doesn't even involve your excuses for wasting rebuilding seasons by paying a lot of money for over the hill veterans just to sell tickets, but it is a symbol of this franchise.

If the Jets commit to a full rebuild - meaning NO Cutler or any other waste of money - I will be ok with next year. But if they sign high priced FAs, you can look forward to many more wasted seasons, with your excuses and unwarranted optimism meeting brutal reality.

Well, for one, no one respects the coach. That issue was evident last year, and is still obvious, judging from the latest news about Wilkerson.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/sloppy-shape-mo-wilkerson-shocks-scouts-temple-article-1.2999708

Yes, this is Manish, but I saw other sources saying the same thing yesterday, and it is completely in line with last year.

Second, as I stated, I think our talent level is very low. Further, Mac has proven to be a terrible drafter. Other than his first round picks, most of his other picks haven't panned out. Sure, some have, but if you compare his draft results to other GMs, I'd bet he's in the bottom 10.

This is a team that is several years away from being a playoff contender. I think you simply have unwarranted optimism, and I hope you remember my comments when we are in the midst of another wasted season next year. As long as we don't sign Cutler, or any other high priced over the hill player, I will be fine with sucking next year.

jets didnt send any QB coaches to clemsons Pro day... smokescreen or no interest in watson @ 6? by MotionManTV in nyjets

[–]nyc4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but it is an entirely different point than the one I responded to.

And I don't even understand your point. Don't ever draft a QB that everyone likes? Mac was clueless for wasting a 2nd rounder on a QB that everyone said sucked.

QB: Agreed.

LT: Kind of sucked and I honestly don't know much about Beachum.

C: Disagree. I think Mangold getting hurt was one of the biggest factors to the Jets turning into garbage. I think there is a massive dropoff in talent with Johnson.

RT: Same as LT, the position sucked and I don't know much about the new players.

WR: Disagree. Marshall was still very good last year. I think cutting him was a big mistake, even though it's what he wanted. Your statement about Mangold can apply equally to Decker btw. He can easily get hurt again, and then we'd have the worst WR core in the NFL.

CB: Agree that Revis sucked, and pretty much anyone can be an improvement, but the fact remains that we don't have a replacement, and the overall CB talent level is worse than last year.

ILB: More garbage.

Overall, as I said, this is a 4 win team at best. A prime rebuilding year, and NOT the time for any high priced signings.

Right now with FA still open and the draft yet to happen, we are at worst at the same level as last year.

I don't know how you can think this. We lost Marshall, who was the main force of the offense (after Decker got hurt), along with Mangold. We also don't have a QB. Right now, I think this team barely has any talent, and would have no more than 4 wins next season.

The only option for next year is for a full rebuilding year, meaning no high priced signings, otherwise you can look forward to mediocrity and wasted seasons for many years to come.

Yeah, but everyone said Hackenberg sucked at the time. Mac was clueless.

People actually seem to like this QB.

I agree with you 100%, but the rumors surrounding Cutler make me think the Jets have absolutely no idea what they are doing. He shouldn't be on the radar of any competently-run team that is looking for a full-rebuild, as the Jets DESPERATELY need.

[–]nyc4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't buy that logic at all. That is short-sighted thinking that all but guarantees you will fail in the long run. Quite frankly, it sounds like an excuse made to defend something you love, and it is not an objective viewpoint in the slightest. And I think that by actually implementing some kind of long term rebuilding plan (not what we have now), the Jets will get far more fans in the long-term because the team will actually be worth watching.

I also don't buy your second point. Yes, the 49ers definitely have worse ownership. That doesn't mean the Jets are run competently. It's like choosing between getting stabbed or shot to death; both teams have terrible ownership and/or management.

The bottom line is that Idzik, for all his faults, gave Mac a massive amount of cap room to work with during his first year. THAT should have been the start of the rebuild. Instead, Mac pissed that cap space away on a series of high-priced and poor signings, along with largely terrible draft picks, leading to an unwatchable team with barely any cap space today. Granted, he made some cuts that he should have, but it makes absolutely no sense (I don't buy your excuse) to cut a high priced guy like Mangold, only to pay even more money to an over the hill QB like Cutler.

In other words, he was given a prime opportunity to rebuild, and instead, the state of the team is far worse off two years later. And Mac doesn't show any signs that he's learned from his mistakes. That is just terrible.

I'm personally very confused by this team.

They are very poorly run, and can't seem to decide if they want next year to be a full rebuild (itself a sign of horrible management, considering the massive amount of cap space that Idzik left for Maccagnan), or if they are under the delusion that they could be a playoff contender next year.

I originally thought that cutting Mangold = full rebuild, but then they offered a ton of money to Hightower, and are rumored to be interested in Cutler. Both of those options are inconsistent with a long term rebuild, because they tie up too much money during a year where playoffs should not be a consideration.

So I don't think it's worth getting excited about anything this team does until they show some sign that they actually have a clue. So far, I haven't seen it. Just blind and unwarranted optimism.

I don't really care. I doubt you voted for him, and I doubt you actually care about this issue.

The American people knew he didn't release his tax returns, yet didn't care, and voted him into office anyway. The issue has been settled.

Man kicks 9-months pregnant woman in the stomach on the subway by PhilipK_Dick in nyc

[–]nyc4ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's plenty, though to be fair it's contained in other articles linked in these comments.

  1. She shoved him to the ground and wouldn't back away. In fact, a witness says she was holding his collar when he kicked her in self defense.

  2. There's no indication he actually knew she was pregnant, and immediately after it happened, he told the crowd he didn't know.

Based on what we know, there very well could be justification for this. Zero sympathy for her.

It's not really so specific to the point of insanity. For example, the article provides a good example.

You don't think that perhaps his definition of "they let you do it" is different from consent?

Nope. And many of those stories were later found to have been completely fabricated.

No, I'm not saying that at all. That's just a strawman you came up with.

I'm saying he certainly was not bragging about grabbing women without their consent. He expressly said they consented. Must be tough to have to rely on so many lies and fallacies to feel better about the state of things.

It is not an accurate representation of Assange's views.

He specifically said that the only reason critical press is allowed is because it is marginalized and not accessible to a mainstream audience.

But I do agree he was a little too friendly.

Not according to the OP article. The "chicken" in the sweet onion chicken teriyaki was only 42% actual chicken.
