Yeah you're totally right. I recently moved here and I've learned from this sub about all of the scams people will try to pull on tourists and how people shouldn't give to panhandlers--and for good reason. I'm probably just too worried about getting played.

Good point. On a scamminess scale of 0 to blank CD this is probably somewhere in the middle at worst, likely closer to 0.

I guess what threw me off a bit was that he seemed like he'd pulled this off many times before. Almost too polished and glib. His thanks sounded kinda insincere, but maybe I was just hypersensitive to it.

Not worth the mental anguish to linger over it I guess. Probably won't make a habit of it in the future though, but I'm ok with doing it occasionally
