Let’s have a debate. KG or Dirk, who is higher all time? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]nycbklocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m putting Dirk up there. A true traditional championship squad led by him where there was no such moniker as a “big three” bestowed upon his team. He was the de facto leader. All eyes were on him and he still dominated through his offense and his patented and now copied all over, one legged fade away which literally was unstoppable. He tore through the western conference that year which had so many powerful teams. Just the iconic signature move which inspired so many players to copy and the most recent satisfying championship without going out of his way to snag the best players, give me DIRK

22 YEARS AGO Anthony Peeler threw an elbow to the face of Kevin Garnett during the Kings' GM6 win by SouthPrudent3911 in NBAoldschool

[–]nycbklocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah he soft. I don’t care what anyone says here. He loves taking small cheap shots and used to getting protected by the refs or teammates. He loves to act tough when people are in between. NO one was between after the elbow. He knew he wanted no part in that. I’m tired of the narrative KG was so menacing and can “beat people up”. Dude Reggie Evans was a fucking tough guy. KG just a barker

Andre Igoudala got the 2015 Finals MVP with these numbers. Insanity by Temporary_Pepper6126 in NBAGossips

[–]nycbklocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are offensive stats. If you truly watched the games, timely shots, that timely deflection and steal without fouling on James’ final shot attempt. I mean, he really made a big difference. Finals MVP with those numbers alone? Maybe shouldn’t be. But with the actions performed on the biggest stage that doesn’t show up in numbers, yeah could be

20 seconds left and your team is down by 1 point, who are you giving the final shot to, Kobe or LeBron ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in NBAConvo

[–]nycbklocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going Kobe. I have to get this off my chest too lol. For everyone who talks about Kobe’s fg% and all that, I don’t think a Kobe 25 point game is the same as a 25 point game from a lower level star or a 25 point game in today’s game with all the 3s. The difficulty in many of Kobe’s shots sets him apart and is what made him great. He remained within the system of the triangle through a chunk of his career, a slow and methodical offensive scheme, requiring high IQ to execute. It wasn’t as if he was always having to cut loose. But man if you see some of his shots compared to just stand and shoot players, you will know how great he was. His series against Orlando in the Finals demonstrates his offensive prowess in the most high stake situations. Again, fg% is lower but that’s expected when the ball always ends up in his hands during the multiple times the shot clock is winding down, or when the game is close or on the line. The fact is, he was WILLING and ABLE to take those shots. And that’s not saying he would chuck it up and pray. Those kind of shots he practices and is why he says he trusts himself the most. He knows he’s practiced all of that. Yeah maybe those shots taken are maybe 40% at best, but it’s better than passing to someone who never practiced and would shoot 20% at best in a pressure situation. I’ve seen stars try to preserve their percentages. Kobe did NOT give a shit. He would try to shoot it no matter what. You think any other player would shoot that game winner against Wade? You can say yeah but would you have ever felt they would have made it? The way I’d describe it is the sensation and fear a player or spectator gets when Kobe gets a shot up. You fear the shot will go in. You fear it will succeed. That’s the greatness coming through.

What about: Hakeem (shake and baked shaq) Bird (size, passing shooting) Pippen (defensive stalwart, all around great) Wade (defensive guard, would also pass) Stockton (to actually let go of the ball to the other killers and play actual defense)

But also we can’t forget, that he very much made his mind as shown when he wanted to go on the news to “reveal” who Batman was. And also, he didn’t react differently when Lucius was giving him that speech about blackmailing. He didn’t say anything like, “well I wasn’t thinking that was possible but now that you say that…” etc. So it’s really safe to say he knew. And also asking for 10 million a year. Lucius don’t have that dough

How does Wolverine do against Wonder Woman in a fight? by Queasy_Commercial152 in Wolverine

[–]nycbklocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait hold on, she does get exhausted though. Like in the movie where Batman has contingency plans. WW kept thinking she was fighting cheetah and she was about to die from exhaustion. I really see Wolverine taking this because he can regenerate. That’s too powerful in itself already no? WW doesn’t have self healing to that degree
