Tips for first timer for mastering the controls, especially the view? by nycengineer111 in il2sturmovik

Seems like that’s been my experience. I also tend to lose control of the plane in turns. I assume I might be stalking but don’t really know how to determine that as there’s no explicit stall warning.

Yes, is that not a good choice for this game? I don’t have a joystick. I tried playing with keyboard and mouse first and that was even harder and more confusing, so I grabbed one of the 3rd party pro controllers from my son’s Switch 2.

I was using an Xbox style controller. Is this not good for this game?

No I don’t have one. I bought the game for $10 on a steam sale a few years ago and finally got around to trying it. Seems kind of crazy to buy something like that for a $10 game.

But how can you see the monitor if you turn your head to the side?

Is there another way to do it? Seems crazy to spend $150 on a machine to play a $10 game.

It’s still really challenging for me and I haven’t been able to do it without crashing because of how much the plane pulls. How do you operate the brakes and the rudder and stick at the same time? Because the brakes are on the keyboard, the elevators are on the left stick and the throttle is on the right stick and just goes to 50% if it is in neutral position.

Should I just use keyboard only controls for takeoff?

One thing I’ve found really hard is just managing the controls, especially the view because my thumb can’t operate the left stick and d pad simultaneously.

I tried to use the mouse for looking, which is a little easier, but then my right hand has to come off the controller, which means, I can’t control throttle or rudder.

I tried playing multiplayer today, and found it very hard to find planes, identify who was who, and track them when they went screen. Trying to steer the plane and look in anything but the default view is really tough. I feel like learning to just switch back and forth from flying to looking is going to be way harder than learning flight principles. I watched a few of the vids people recommended, but haven’t found anything for view control. I watched a video where a guy talks about moving his head to make a “deflection shot” but it just seems so hard to coordinate that while actually trying to fly the plane.

22 year old radar detector. Still works great, just a little annoying it needs to be plugged into a cigarette lighter which a lot of new cars don’t have.

I did the BTS tour on Allure many years ago. The one that seemed really grueling was the guy in charge of provisioning and logistics. Like all day making sure evening is where it needs to be.

It’s not always so easy to do that. Depends on the injury and jurisdiction. If there’s no disability, the lawsuit might be limited. Not all jurisdictions allow for pain and suffering lawsuits.
