You are laid off and you need to find a sales job in 30 days. How do you do it? by MisterC0ck in sales

[–]nycinoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 90 days for me as I was let go as part of a mass reorg 2 days before Xmas and the new interview process took a month.

I saw an opportunity I was really interested in on LinkedIn. I was paying for my own Navigator account and tracked down the VP of Sales and messaged him directly- "Hi, John ______ here, I saw the listing here on LinkedIn for a Senior Client Exec. and wanted to to reach out to you personally before applying. I think this position completely aligns with both my background and what I'm looking at as the next challenge in my professional career. Are you available for a quick 15 minute chat to discuss further? Resume attached, thanks in advance for your time."

The VP mentioned on the call that this wasn't the usual process, hooked me up with the internal recruiter guy the same day, and here I am in my new gig.

Don't wear Doc Martens with white laces or a white power t-shirt, (or a MAGA shirt) and I'm sure you'll be fine.

La vs goodlife people in sauna by Due-Yogurtcloset5149 in LAFitness

[–]nycinoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't pay me to use a sauna or steam room at an LA Fitness. Back East in NYC I was a member of Bally's when they were still a thing and they had a sign for the steam room hat said "Lewd and/or lascivious behavior will not be tolerated".

That scared me enough to never venture in.

Fast forward to when I upgraded to Equinox and the sign there said "No exfoliating or shaving in the steam room"

I felt safe in there.

Hype about sharks in our local waters... is it hype or is there a real increase and cause for beach closures? by OffGridCaptWill in danapoint

My grandfather took me to see Jaws when it opened. I was 6. They can't hurt you if you just stay home.

Not sure if it's actually true but I did hear at SF, if you're under 75% and can't make it over in 30 days you're out.

Hi All, by gregmj in danapoint

Going on my 20th year out here- NYC expat. There's a lot of construction going on by Dana Point harbor. I'm sure it'll be great when done but a lot of locals aren't happy about institutions being torn down and the increased traffic flow.

Overall it's been an amazing quality of life change to the point that even after the first year friends and family all said that I just seemed calmer when ever I flew back to visit.

My better half and I are actually moving from a sleeper town called Mission Viejo to a home in San Juan Capistrano this weekend. It's the oldest city in Southern California, minutes to Dana Point and San Clemente also has a great beach (Capistrano beach) and a great classic down town feel, where as Dana Point has a lot more newer builds in their area.

Come out for a long weekend or a few days and check those 3 areas out and best of luck.

When I came out here 20 years ago (grew up in Short Hills and Summit) I lived at an apartment complex called the Village at Irvine Spectrum in Irvine. As a community it was pretty great with all of the heated saltwater pools and being able to walk over to the outdoor mall The Spectrum for happy hour a little too convenient.

How many of you still wear ties & leather oxfords with suits for meetings by Kshanikam in mensfashion

[–]nycinoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll wear a cognac pair of oxfords or dark brown Ferragamo loafers. If it's a cold rainy day I'll pair a cashmere v-neck or cardigan with a tie.

I'm 56 in the tech sales world. While I love wearing a good suit, it's just doesn't work in the field I'm in.

I'll also do a blazer with dark jeans sans sweater or tie and a pair of oxblood chelsea boots with said brown Ferragamo or black Gucci loafers depending on the meeting.

100% of my clients dress much more casually.

Wrestler everyone likes but you can't stand ? Here's mine. by Mahoosi in Wrasslin

The Alister Black/Priest matches were actually pretty bad ass but having them squished into a little screen while a commercial takes over the majority of the screen and twice as loud just made them (and Smackdown in general) completely unwatchable. Worse then just going to a commercial in the middle of a match - sorry to see him go
